AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8

Why is everyone so keen to write off Tholstrup?

The kid will be fine. He'll get more midfield time next season and he looked great there for Casey late in the year.

I would add JVR to your conversation. Prior to this year he was showing good signs. Jeffo in a new system may become a good player. Laurie Wass second round selection.

We gave them our second rounder for next year.

True but we still get their 2025 #37

AFL:

The final deal will see the Demons get picks 7, 8 and 37 this year, Gold Coast's 2026 first-round pick and the Suns' 2027 third-round pick.

The Suns will get Petracca, pick 24 and 28 in this year's draft and Melbourne's 2026 second-round pick.

So that is

We get 3 first round picks, a 2nd round pick and a 3 rd round pick and we give Petracca and 3 2nd round picks.

Could be his last draft with us, currently out of contract

Asked elsewhere but probably better here.

My thinking all along that should we end up with 7&8; that that was never the focus.

We've a history of "shopping" picks.

My thoughts go to... if the ready-made didn’t eventuate ( and didn’t ) what was/is the secondary target. I'm thinking that our thinking is a player much closer the pointy end.

So who would we be looking at at 2 or 3 ??

Lamb sounded like they'd just take 7 & 8 to the draft in that footage, if that means anything

Does white pick come from these draft picks or somewhere else?

Yes I know. I was responding to you originally saying we only gave up Petracca, 24 and 28.

He's playing clever clogs... You dont want to alert the competition to your plan... they'll beat you to it 😉

The smart move with 8 is to trade it with Carlton for 9 and a 2027 second and a promise of no bid on Dean at 7.

Trading up for sure fire elite talent, all for it if we can, but not sure it exists outside maybe Duursma and very maybe Robey.

So this would mean no bid on Dean until pick 10. Yes ? Is it easier for Carlton if this occurs .

We would not want to be charged with collusion

I hope we can get one great kid and the other a workhorse if it is a poor draft.

2 champs like last year very doubtful

What are we likely to take or do with the picks?

Looking for forwards/mids/wing?

Dont care about position.

Speed And skills.

Can whoever ends up with pick 2 go on a bidding frenzy and make these clubs pay up. Thankyou

I'd rate our trade period an A alongside the Saints and Lions.

Time to cook Jason Taylor 👏

He's a bit old and tough, so I'd suggest in a slow cooker

I'd trade pick 7 and 8 for Richmond pick 3 if Richmond are willing to trade it. It means Woey can stay on the list.

Id rate it a B

The cards were stacked.. A was never attainable... but imo we haven't done too bad.

Yes, confronting for many.... but step back and look at it coldly... it could have been a lot worse... and with draft to come... Still more work to be done.

I understand Wiki is not a solid resource, but it was a second round selection. Demonwiki says the same,
