Unfortunately King is doing what should have been done 2 seasons ago, winning b&F,AA& flag dosent excuse you from poor behaviours which impacted on the whole team

100% , the impact that can have on a group seeing a (albeit great ) player get away with off field antics which caught up to him resulting in reduced on performance , impacting the team and continually be coddled and given games and chances is no good for a club.

He ain't no word smith old Clarry....

If what is reported is correct he destabilised the group when we had the best list I've every seen in my life.. and wrecked our chance at a flag on the G, il back the club in making the right decisions moving hom on...

Does anyone know if Tracc being at MFC or not has anything to do with Clayton?? Could it be we will hold onto cp5 once a deal is done with GWS

Nope Tracc's issues go beyond Oliver.

ย

the idea that we genuinely wanted him to play a modified role is funny. i'm surprised some posters actually believe it.

The club wants him out full stop. its why we're prepared to pay a chunk of his salary

He has been booted out of the football clubโ€ฆ most of us would be feeling the same if you were in his position.

Maybe he should reflect on why he's being booted out of the club.

Na, real fans support the club, real MFC fans dont have to respect a player who pretty much single handedly brought the entire club down in 2023 and beyond after getting rewarded with a life changing contract. [censored] him.

Why would I be crying? Very happy hes gone. ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿฅณ

geez you're a melt, honestly your reaction just about rivals his,

not sure how many times you've found yourself the centre of an entire countries media for 9 years running, critiquing your every move, clearly its taken its toll on the poor guy, u have to feel for the human element of it, end of the day hes just a bloke who wants to play footy and he's cocked up once or twice and being ran through the absolute wringer for the umpteenth time.

i hope he lands at the giants and has another 5-6-7 solid years, get him in with hoges he'll look after him. the redemption could even be better than the original

GWS have picks 13, 34 & 36

Might we prise out pick 13? Of course that's his guernsey number as well

That's my tip but we'll have to pay a sizeable amount of his salary (?)

Reckon that's more than a fair trade considering it could cost the club $3.5Million

n.b. Pies first pick is #38 (no thanks)

Clazz, 3.5m and 27 for 13

Best way to view Clarry is like a 14 year old impulsive kid. That is who he is.

He could save the digs for when we accept picks for him and Tracc and bottom our for two years.

He has issues and I wonder how much more will be made public once he leaves.

The guy was the best player Melbourne has seen in 60 years. Surely that gives him the credit to play his own way. His inability to change his style isnโ€™t his fault and isnโ€™t the clubs fault for moving him on.

His wry comment about the club is likely done out of disappointment and frustration that the club he loves no longer wants him.

Come on, it's got nothing to do with his playing style or role in the team. Isn't it obvious by now?

Ah yeah this... Club IS A DISGRACE. King, Guerra, Green, A LOT TO ANSWER FOR!! but the biggest disgrace is the supporter base out there that are Bagging the second best player since FLOWER . Demonland should shut up shop given the comments of many who have ZERO appreciation of his issues which lets face it folks ... we all have! I almost hope he goes to Pies just to prove many here and Demon Hierarchy wrong.

Just pitiful really and I'll say it now.. KING and Co have lost me already GGF! TRAGIC

Ok, but we'll have their pick #34 as the clincher

I'd like to see JT weave his magic with a few 2nd rounders

No more fringe NQR's ... let's see if we can develop a few more 18yo's

Iโ€™ll m 61 and have been a member since 98 and supporter since 72, when will this footy club ever get this right, Its either off field issues with presidents, CEOs coaches or players, one ray of sunshine with great young list and yet we found a way to stuff it, like a broken record!

They?

Rant Begins.

OK. So Oliver was Fantastic!!. One of the Best players ever for our beloved club.

A KEY pillar in delivering us our first grand final in 57 years.

for this he will always have my respect.

The guy was one of my favorites.

BUT

the last few years have been rather difficult.

Clarry's form was poor,

Fitness was Lacking

and his level of commitment and Focus was dubious at best,

he was no longer a team player, It was about Him

I Understand he has his "issues" Although I do not know what they are, I have only heard various rumours from places like bigfooty...

whatever they were, I respected The Club being kept quiet, and the levels the club went to help him through his issues.

This is a club Renowned for leaking like a sieve, and the Oliver issues were Protected

From Max Gawn having Oliver stay at his house to get his head straight

The phenomenal $$$$ lifetime stable contract he was given

AND

The seemingly guaranteed game, in the position of his choice given to him by the coach

so NOW, we get a new coach, who is not giving those guarantees

saying to him,

we may change up the position you play

We will need you to regain peak fitness

and you will need to present a PROFESSIONAL level of commitment and focus

and it now seems doubtless, Oliver Cracked the [censored] hearing he was no longer going to be a protected species that can get away with doing everything his way

and we responded, "If you do not like it, feel free to play somewhere else"

The Correct response to being told this is to wizen up, accept responsibility and get better

For the Team.... It is a Team Game

but to continue to act like a petulant child, Not accept any responsibility and start to attack where the supporters will feel it. Stab them in the Heart.

It is frankly pathetic.

I am at the stage now, If you do not want to be here, weather your name is Oliver, Mcvee or Petracca, and you are not 100% about the Melbourne Football Club.

Then [censored] Off

Rant Ends.

  • Apologies, I am heart broken about how this has played out, so my post may be rather emotional

Edited by red and blue forever

Everything about this is just so sad and [censored].

Doesnโ€™t matter whether youโ€™re in the โ€œthe club is a disgraceโ€ camp, or the โ€œgood riddanceโ€ camp.

The mere fact that itโ€™s 2025 and weโ€™re on here squabbling amongst ourselves about Clayton Oliver touring GWS in preparation to be traded out is a rubbish situation no matter which way you look at it.

Maybe you should go and become the Clayton Oliver fan that you were born to be rather than supporting the club.

If you were born in 64? and only became a supporter in 72 who the hell were you supporting before that?

Arenโ€™t all Dees supporters born with the supporting Melbourne genetic defect?

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven Mayย

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
