Absolute joke of a club clearing a premiership club champion for a bag of chips. Lamb and the MFC can GAGF. I’d like to know who is going to pick up 30 disposals in the midfield next year.

It’s upsetting for sure; I’m devastated that it didn’t work out with Oliver. However, the club obviously didn’t want to keep him for a very good reason/s.

Despite what some on here will tell you, it’s perfectly ok to feel incredibly sad about this trade.

Thank you Clarry for giving us some of the best years of our supporting lives.

You were by far the most special midfielder I’ve ever seen in red and blue.

I wish you nothing but success. On field, but much more importantly off field.

I hope you find the peace you’re so desperately looking for.

I'm shattered he's leaving, but can't agree with this, sorry @Very Jaded

Is the number cursed as well?

It's definitely sad how its all turned out, but at the end of the day the juice wasn't worth the squeeze.

The fact we're paying half his salary till 2030.. we may aswell fold as an organisation 🤣🤣🤣

You’re free to go at any time.

I’m really sad to see Clarrie depart in this way, but his ā€˜issues’ (in spite of enormous support from the Club), had clearly become untenable.

I’m pleased that the new regime at our Club ā€˜bit the bullet’ on this one, but I’m equally hopeful that Clarrie finds his way at GWS, and in his future more generally.

Very simple, Jack Steele has very similar stats and more goals.

Grateful for all that Claz achieved with us.

But, but... there must be reasons to move him on that we don't know of or don't know much about. Maybe King is not the cuddly type that Goody was. Claz is damaged goods, unfortunately, how much more do we support him?

Those bemoaning the club as a joke for salary dumping need to remember that he's been a very expensive, very average ex-star that has now freed up space for others in the midfield. Based upon his last 2 years, it would be fair to say he doesnt suit the modern game and his best is well behind him.

The next generation can now step up without Oliver and Trac's antics mudding the water.

Sorry for your loss, picket fence šŸ™

Not sure why, but I'm comfortable with this.
Perhaps its because the net value on what we've done I don't think is bad across all our trades in and out. But in particular for this, I am fairly certain that the pick is based on the amount of salary, and I simply believe I don't believe the [censored] in the media that we'd still be paying 700k for another 4-5 seasons for Clarry for a 3rd round pick, it will be less than this.

Also lets be honest, the MFC did a lot of things to try and make this work for Clarry in the last couple of years. It just didn't work, and both parties made the call to part. If we take Lamb at his word, King met with Clarry and said you need to be flexible in the roles you play going forward and he wasn't prepared to do that,... that just shows he still doesn't get it.

We're getting 3 1st round picks for Petracca. Thats better than expected, even though there are a bunch back and forth in the other rounds.

Happy with Mihocek, Heath as a young ruck for Gawn, Steele helps in the midfield, CKJ off the half back line.

I'll back the club, support the new players. We've managed to get 8 1st round picks in the last 4 years apparently. (dunno if that includes the future 1st from GC) Our list management team hasn't done badly.

Jesus, anyone should think Oliver died, get a life, football is a business, and these things happen. Oliver made his own bed to lie in, just hope he stays away from motorcycles....

A swap of Steele for Oliver certainly wasn’t on my bingo card

But it's a better deal, player wise

A really sad end to a stellar MFC career - one of our greatest, no doubt.

Hope King knows what he's doing.

I hope the same thing about Oliver

Probably a midfielder who may only get 20 but use it well. Clayton may have got 30 a fair bit but didn't do a lot with it. After 21 like trac he wasn't the consistent superstar player.

Hopefully he goes well at gws.

Again, a sad day.

A genuine champion of our club walks out the door for a largely useless pick whilst we pay him to play for a flag contender.

It’s an appalling way for his chapter at Melbourne to end, no matter how you look at it.

Like with Trac, it’s time for us to launch into a new era with a new midfield, but I sure hope we had good reasons for this, because to my eyes, we’ve cocked this up.

Just changed my profile pic - didnt think Ollie would be gone, but im pretty happy that we have a new regime, new broom, so this is going to be a good thing!
