Anyone got a link to the interview? i'd love to have a listen

Thanks from me. Cannot get SEN.

Great interview from King

I love his confidence but even more I love his transparency

Have a listen if you haven’t, spoke really well.

The talk about inside 50 was positive, saying that we will try to be unpredictable, that in itself is music to my ears.

Sometimes hearing the same message years on end can make people become stale and play within themselves.

A new voice, new ideas etc just may unleash the shackles of a few.

Get on and back Kingy

Was an enjoyable listen. He’s well spoken if nothing else, and is humble and excited about the opportunity to coach our club.

Sounds like he’d be keen to retain Trac if he had his way.

Bonus points for referring to two clubs at the same time as “we”. That gave me a bit of a laugh.

Goulburn Valley boy from the 'Bears' Shepparton Football Club. Which has longevity, an interesting history not unlike MFC and some significant figures in Australian Rules from the past and present. Former players who have connections include Peter Maynard, David Code, Shannon Byrnes and Tom Hafey who coached the club to a hattrick of flags prior to his ascension as coach at Richmond. Currently AFL listed players include Lachlan Ash, Will Brodie, Jordan Butts and Jarman Impey are former SFC alumni. Good luck Rex Steven! Long may you reign.

no corporate speak nonsense. we've had enough of that guff

I know i'd love to have this guy coaching me. Speaks clearly. No one will be unsure of their role.

I'm very much in favour of the shift in communication style from the clubs leadership

And i'm delighted we have this bloke rather than FIGJAM coaching the team

Interesting about McVee.

What did he say?

Outstanding and very open interview. Lots of hard work ahead, but Kingy fills me with hope and confidence for the near term.

……… and hopes to name assistants by the end of next week. I got the impression that Matthew Scarlett might have a part time role.

He really gives off a genuine vibe. Some are just like that.

Gave more away in 18 minutes than Goody did in a decade! Goody did get us a flag and this might not even get us wins but as a fan this is refreshing!

A quote from Bert Newton (slightly changed due to everyone being prim and proper). " I like the man". Took him 5 minutes to work out we need elite kickers with high skills which is what myself and many on here knew for a long while.

Buckle up people. We are going on a nice ride upwards, I hope.

He said he sat down and had a coffee with Judd and he felt it went really well. He said Judd has obviously decided he wants to go home.

it’s funny, I didn’t notice him use “we” when referring to Geelong but I certainly noticed the “we” and “our” and “us” when talking about MFC. As with Paul, this is instantly endearing, although I pulled Paul up about an interview he did wherein he said “… we won the premiership in 2021…” I told him, “You’ve been with us for five minutes and you’re claiming our premiership as yours?!” 😅

This morning’s interview with Kingy is a great listen and instils much confidence. I love the way he answers questions; he’s a straight talker and doesn’t baulk at any question. He said “Chomping at the bit” instead of “Champing at the bit” but I’ll forgive him for this 😝

That he had explained to Christian that he’d like him to stay. We need to move the ball much faster from half back. Very respectful of those exploring opportunities at present

Was fairly confident about next year in spite of Petracca certain to leave, but if the Oliver reports are true, I’ll have to re-assess expectations. Can’t be losing May, Trac and Oliver and expect to rebound and contend, let alone a top 6 finish. Oliver especially has shown he is still capable and with a full pre season, he can play top level footy again in 2026.

In saying that, the kids on the list are really good. As long as there is a clear direction and pathway forward, fans can cop another season without finals.

Feel like he’ll be back in front of the media before long, addressing his chat with Oliver. Which as a brand new coach, discussing roles for the future shouldn’t be a surprise. Makes sense he’d want to have a face to face and a clear agreement of the future ahead.

FWIW I don’t think he was telling Oliver to seek a trade. I think/hope he was just making things clear about how he’d like him to return day one and what will be expected. If he’s to bulk up or slim down. Better he knows now

I don't think any of this is them asking Oliver to seek a trade, I think that's pure click bait and complete [censored]. It sounds like they are just shifting roles and trying to get the best out of people and the team and he wants to have a mature chat to Oliver about that since he is a big part of the puzzle. Sounds about right to me.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
