Max Gawn v Dogs in round 22

Dees lost by 6 points and nearly got home

23 disposals. 42 hitouts. 5 marks. 1 goal. 125 SuperCoach points. Clearly he was close to carrying the Dees over the line.

3,2,1 votes all to Bulldogs players

Any comments .. Hamish you tool

CLUB champion Max Gawn has led the Demons at the Charles Brownlow Medal count, amassing 23 votes for a ninth-placed overall finish.

It’s his highest tally on the AFL’s night of nights, eclipsing his previous best 20 votes which came in 2018.

Christian Petracca came in as the second-placed Demon in his comeback season.

The placings reflected the club’s best and fairest count earlier this month, with Kysaiah Pickett also rounding out the podium.

Jack Viney polled eight votes to be the fourth-placed Demon.

Jake Bowey earned his best-on-field three votes and first Brownlow votes for his 32-disposal Anzac Day Eve performance against Richmond.

Christian Salem and Jake Melksham were the other two Demons to poll with three and two votes respectively.

Full Demon Tally

Max Gawn – 23 Votes
Christian Petracca – 16 Votes
Kysaiah Pickett – 10 Votes
Jack Viney – 8 Votes
Jake Bowey – 3 Votes
Christian Salem – 3 Votes

Jake Melksham – 2 Votes

As much as I loathe the Pies, I actually do feel for N Daicos. Cameras all over him, and he is showing grace and respect. Must be tough to be 2nd three years running.

The strange thing is that JAMIE ELLIOTT actually took Mark of the Year v the Lions. His mark was far away better than the Darcy mark. Still it was ineligible given it’s in finals. !!

jed walter in darwin would have been my winner

Hey, the "Media" are going Ape ***8 over this.

Buuuuuut Viney was sensational over the first three quarters (so it wasn't some bloke in the car park). FGF was absolutely brilliant in the last.

However it did not alter the final result one iota !!! The way they are carrying on you would think it had cost someone the Charlie

Nah let this one go. NWM was so blatantly best on ground. It’s as big a howler as you’ll ever see.

NWM with 34 and 4 goals. BOG even in a loss, let alone when winning his side the game.

Laughable vote giving.

I bet Viney agrees.

Max Gawn finished 6 votes ahead of the next Ruckman (Luke Jackson) 15 ahead of Tim English, 16 ahead of TDK/Xerri and 17 ahead of Grundy. In a side that won 7 games.

This bloke is the greatest Demon we’ve ever had.

I hope Essendon and Carlton get into a bidding war and bankrupt their clubs of draft picks and Essendon end up with another 10 years of no finals.

FWIW Smith winning would have been worse than Daicos

On the other hand, Langford was robbed.

Essendon & Carlton have been diabolically bad for decades, wallowing in past glories and mired in factions inside the clubs. Essendon still have the spectre of Sheedy and the cult of Hird that could still hamper them for sometime to come.

Carlton seem to be cleaning house, remains to be be see if it is thorough enough to set up a more healthy and professional environment.

Doubt Carlton will throw pots of gold at any one player anymore, the Blues wisely passed on matching the bags of cash thrown by the Saints at TDK. A positive sign.

For all those that dump on CP5 and think he is washed up, he got 16 Brownlow votes coming off a serious injury. The Brand still has mote likes on Insta to come methinks 😁

I loved his effort in that game, but NWM single handedly won the Saints that game.

He scored a perfect 10 from the coaches in that game.

Agreed NWM deserved the 3 votes but some of the comments ive seen online make it seem like this was the most egregious moment of the night, at the end of the day the 2nd highest rated player that game got the 3 votes. There were games where Rowell/N Daicos polled when they had no right to, for me that's a lot worse than someone getting 2 votes when they deserved 3

For your amusement, I'm pleased to present this technically excellent, seamless, inspired and on point example of photoshopping.

If it's triggering, you are aware of that, don't read it.

I'm sick of people using mental health as an excuse to block other people's opinions.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.
