He's got plenty of good footy left him if he stays fit

A good time for him to have a fresh start

Thanks for the flag and all the best Charlie

Thanks,

What is the reasoning behind this rule?

Surely you must know by now that there is no requirement of reasoning behind any AFL rules.

And then there were * Number of remaining premiership players *

Played his role to perfection in the flag year as part of the triple pronged pressure fleet.

The injury at the start of last year probably sealed his fate and then Sharp coming in probably sealed it further despite not doing much.

Think this is for the best as North could use some HFF types, he does have the kicking going for him and I hope he does well.

I think they’ll offer #9 to Jai.

Good luck Charlie. As others have said you will always be remembered at the MFC as a key member of our 2021 Premiership side

Very few players who reach 100 games and play in a Premiership

Why?

What is wrong with 19?

“Promoting” player numbers is so overrated. I will never forget when Liam Jurrah was “promoted” from 48 to 24 and he wasn’t even half the player he was before.

For that 2-3 year period where BBB was at full forward, with Fritsch and Spargo also in the forward line, our footy was great to watch. Spargs probably only averaged 15 touches per game but his thinking and delivery into F50 was so trustworthy. Kicking distance was always his struggle, but I loves him in our flag year.

Great servant, thanks for helping to bring us the exhilaration of the 21 Flag. Go well, but not too well when you play the Dees.

The most overrated player by Demonlanders. A small forward who didn't kick goals and averaged 11 possessions. Also isn't an elite pressure player. His supposed elite disposal was a Demonland myth.

Spargo's best season was actually his 1st in 2018.

Couldn't care less that he played in the premiership team. Glad to see him gone.

Obviously a disgruntled view from an ex Ovens and Murray sixths stalwart...

What a class act you are, huh.

Yeah everyone’s entitled to their opinion blah blah [censored] blah, but how about exercising common decency. You’re within your rights to post this, but there’s a thing called sensitivity ffs. Would it kill you to refrain from expressing your opinion on this occasion?

Four wrongs don’t make a right.

Lucky to get a Mc Happy meal for him I think!

North supporters are livid with the selection if Bigfooty is an indication.

If he has a decent run at it health wise, then he might be good pick up for the Roos.

Why would they be livid? He’s FA so it’s a free kick. At his best he makes them better. If he doesn’t get back to his best, they miss out on pick 100 or whatever. There is literally no downside. Footy fans are so dumb sometimes.

Best of luck Spargs. Sad to see another premiership player go. Thanks for ‘21.

It's a mistake to let him go IMO. Our smalls fwds stocks a really bad and even worse now.

he's been part of the really bad since '21 its time for us to invest in different profiles and build towards the next flag, spargs wasn't going to take us there hopefully we can find someone else who can

You had me at the first bit but probably didnt completely land at the end.

Agree he was overrated and unimpactful and got a generous run at selection - not discrediting he played some gooder games around some mostly uninspiring ones. the same DLers who moan about selection integrity "goodys boys" and vfl form not being rewarded throughout the season suddenly become ultra sensative to list changes and the club trying to find solutions and different combos to take us forward.

10 years, peaked as a player and rightfully shakes hands and takes up a more secure deal and more secure gametime, thankyou and best wishes

look at what watson or lohmann/weightman are doing, or what mannagh and max hall from the vfl are doing, the right players are out there and its time we go and find some new ones for our HF flanks. Sam butler? pedlar? harvey harrison even maybe or can we get a mcreery out, do we focus some draft selections there? dovaston?

if my side was bottom of the ladder for 5 years and tried to sell me hope with sentimental 3 year deals for non goal kicking small forwards after busting on fisher, tucker, stephenson and others who just repeat the cycle i would be fairly livid too, hes a good fluff player but is hardly going to carry them up the ladder

I know he was a whipping boy for the fans but I really respected the way he went about his footy. If the rest of our players had his dedication and calmness we would be premiers.

I feel like he was always up against it - a bit small, not overly quick for a small, couldn't kick over 40m and recently a lot of injury issues. But always gave 110%.

I remember an important match (maybe the Hawks semi final in 2018) where we needed a goal and he had a shot from on the boundary line at his range (about 40-45 out). He just willed it through. A big role in our premiership side - wish him all the best!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
