Cats v Hawks prelim.... Should be a good match

Can't believe I want Geelong to win. Guess I despise Hawthorn even more. Please Brisbane beat either. Play like you did against the Dockers in Perth a few weeks ago. You looked like you had hit your premiership straps that evening.

I have no time for either team, but I want Geelong to lose so that our new coach is freed up earlier. A week or so is more important to us than some extra GF experience.

I can’t work out who to tip tonight

Brisbane’s experience and top end talent vs the suns elite young talent, health and stability but inexperience

Hawks v Cats Prelim = ugh! Can't believe I have had to endure this season with the Dees struggling, only to have to face this. In terms of "barracking", I suppose I have to run with the Cats because Watson, Ginnivan and co are total tools, but if a Cats loss gets Steven King on deck at the Dees earlier, then I will take that.

Tonight, definitely supporting the Suns. Although Hardwick is extremely unlikeable, the teams he coaches play great footy. With Lions injury list I can't see them winning.

Crows were chasing all night and looked stunned by the ferocity of finals footy. They dont get enuff out of Tex Fogthorpe.

Fogarty has had two shockers.

Hard to see Brisbane going much further with current key forwards like Morris, Gallup and possibly Day. Morris is good but can’t do it on his own.

I'm just thinking of next week. If the Suns have to face the pies they'll wet themselves on the G & crumble with the pies crowd, noise & there lack of experience.

At least Brisbane could put up a fight

gc17 play the g very well - the balance of their side suits that size of ground

i give them more a chance of pushing the filth next week than the walking wounded bears

I used to like following the game day thread on Twitter but without fail it’s now just a stream of [censored] complaining about the pre-game welcome to county. It’s tedious

Is anyone else having trouble with the kits being too similar, especially with the long range views?

I love the Suns jumper. I know some can't cope with it because heaven help it's pink but I think it's great

I asked ChatGPT.....I will summarise the answer as 'marketing'.

Here’s what I found out about why the Gold Coast SUNS are wearing a pink guernsey recently:

What’s going on

  • In 2025, the SUNS unveiled a predominantly pink guernsey as part of a new “Pink Collection”. (goldcoastfc.com.au)

  • The first time it was used was during the AFL’s Gather Round, in their match against North Melbourne. (Zero Hanger)

  • Since then they’ve worn it in several games (e.g. Round 13, Round 21, and a semi-final). (afl.com.au)

Why pink?

According to the club’s statements, there are a few reasons:

  1. Visual & branding statement: The club is embracing a more “bold”, “trailblazing” identity. They want to break from tradition and push boundaries with their look. (Zero Hanger)

  2. Connection to local imagery: The design is meant to pay tribute to the “quintessential pink skies of a Gold Coast sunrise”. That is, it reflects something distinctive about the Gold Coast environment. (goldcoastfc.com.au)

  3. Part of a rebranding: The pink guernsey is part of a bigger rebrand launched in late 2024, involving a new logo, new home and clash guernseys, updated club colours, etc. (Zero Hanger)

If you like, I can show you some fan responses—some people love it, some think it’s too radical. Do you want to see those?

Why are they wearing pink?

Thanks

Couldn’t care less whether pink or whatever. But I find it hard to distinguish the teams on TV

Yeah GC’s pink clash jumper isn’t effective in this matchup.

I’m a proponent of white clash jumpers for most clubs including ours. That’s when they’re at their most effective.

The pink and grey is mint

It super clashes with the lions though

Visually very challenging

Like Robin Williams in good morning Vietnam going into the jungle and clashing bit

They should have been in their white tops

Don't mind the salmon and grey kit but they really need to sort out the logo.

The dark shorts GC has doesn’t help

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
