Interesting Kozzie's comment about the difference in vibe around the club between Goody and Kingy

Unfortunately by the end Goody had lost the plot. That he was unable to see it made the decision all the more prudent. Should’ve been made at the end of 2024.

Anyone know where the MFC campaign video is for 2026? I saw on news Zander mentioned it and it was the cheeky pickets and broden Kelly. Anyone know where to find it?

Yeah it’s wasn’t exactly a glowing endorsement of late tenure Goodwin if you watched the interview.

Yes... did not go un-noticed 😉

Will be a SHINNING light this year. For all those out there that say I'm negative.... hows that!

Spoke to the head recruiter of another AFL team and they said they really liked Latrelle and he watched him play about 6 times last season.

Let’s not beat around the bush here. Koz’s words were: “He’s a lot more relaxed, and I feel like…we can be ourselves around him. The vibe is a lot different, it just feels a lot happier, a lot fun…yeah it just feels real good”.

That’s unintentionally hugely insightful into what the club was like last year. It’s a key reason why I’m leaning on the optimistic side in terms of what we can achieve this year - the intangible aspect of moving from that environment to this one.

Yep. I agree with you.

"Goody loves the boys and the boys love Goody" became a kind of mantra, and while it might have been true in an abstract sense, it didn't make any obvious material difference. In fact, as you say, the whole club seemed constrained, sort of culturally and spiritually constipated.

Heartwarming 💞

I noticed the comparative comment Koz made, too - who couldn't? However, he did extend his contract very significantly while Goodwin was still there, prospectively for nearly 2 years, at least. So, I'm not going to read too much into it as a reflection on Goodwin or the club. However, I am going to read into it that the King environment is one to thrive in.

It would be too much to imagine that contract discussions included reflections on possible (shortened?) futures for Goodwin. #MFCakaSeive.

I still have respect for Simon but the last couple of years his post-game pressers were borderline unbearable.

He came across as someone who had lost all capacity for creative thought and had nothing left but to repeat the same old cliches. I'm not surprised it was an environment that may have lacked light. We can only hope that this new regime will bring with it a much more enjoyable style of footy and maybe some better results - fingers crossed

Have just watched the clip. It's possible that those two sentences were edited together. The first one was about the difference between King and Goodwin. The second one might have also been about life under the new coach, but it might also have been about something else, such as changes to the playing personnel.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
