This doesn't surprise me. He was on his way to Collingwood from GC before we turned his head back whenever it was. They also had no issues in recruiting a surplus to our requirements Lynden Dunn to fill a backline role a few years ago. I know we'd all be happy for him to get a gig somewhere else but what about if it's for that manky mob?

Why didn’t Goody ever try May as a FF? We’ll never know if this could have worked, damn it.

Yes that ship had sailed. It was an obvious move that never seemed to garner any consideration surprisingly!!

“May competed for the Northern Territory at the 2010 AFL Under 18 Championships, he was named at full forward in the under 18 All-Australian team. He also kicked 40 goals in 7 games for Melbourne Grammar in the APS as a full forward”.

Just have to remember

So far

  • Premiership player 2021

  • 2× All-Australian team: 2021, 2022

  • Ron Barassi Snr Memorial Trophy (Melbourne B&F Third Place): 2022

  • Sid Anderson Memorial Trophy (Melbourne B&F Runner-Up): 2020

Straight swap for Mihocek?

We wouldn't have to trade for Mihocek. He's a free agent.

Ahh, yes, of course. Good Point

Straight swap for Daicos then?

Not ideal. Seeing him in that revolting jumper would take some getting used to 🤢 And seeing him line up alongside Maynard would take even more getting used to 🤢🤢🤢

Kind oh hope he goes to Collingwood just to P off their supporters.

They’ve spent the better part of 2 years belittling May and hanging absolute garbage on him after his B&F rant with respect to smoking the Pies. And now they get to have him??

No way he goes to the Pies. I’d rather keep him than let him go there.

Let’s get real. They are the enemy. I’m not sure the ruthless gene ever got into the Dees DNA !!

Gross if he goes to Collingwood, but I suppose if we don’t want him anymore we can’t really complain about whoever he gets a gig with…

What are you talking about? May was thrown forward at times in 2020.

What are you talking about? Facts. One shot on goal in 2020. One. In one game. He was thrown forward for a few minutes in 2020 in one game. He wasn’t in other games at all.

Him going to pies makes sense, means he won’t get suspended again

I mean, there's hate, and there's hate hate, and then there's hanging [censored] on an already sacked coach because they 'failed' to deploy one of the competitions best defenders and 2-time All-Australian tall defender as a forward and claiming that's why he got old and cranky.

Not surprising at all. You play May forward, the next thing that happens is JVR and Jefferson ask for a trade because they're languishing in the VFL and not getting games. Meanwhile, at the other end we start leaking like a sieve.

May is pretty well cooked, he's not the answer to anything and hasn't been for the last year or two.

Oh the irony for him. Maybe its all an elaborate plan to get the mug Maynard to Entrecote.

its a good suggestion tho coz it wont ruin our spargo compensation

Couldn't care less where he goes, only care what will make melbourne better, in my opinion, body/form/team harmony says he needs to go.

The pending irony of May playing on Mihocek..

Seems a few clubs are saying no & commentators are saying what clubs he shouldn't go to because of culture. Seems his name isn't great out there.

They have the oldest squad going around with a lot of there long term stars now ancient. The next couple of years could see them fall away.

May and Moore (o boy)

From the start I will admit I don’t watch the pies very often however the games I have watched recently I have the feeling Moore is overrated. He was poor IMO last night. Seems to play far too loose for my liking.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
