Season over really

Crows can’t win away

Lions a small chance to challenge Pies in a prelim

Giants or Freo maybe if everything goes right

but 90% of a Pies/Cats flag

i’m going to walk into the ocean now

I thought you were moving to Iceland 😁

If it happens to be a Geelong v Collingwood Grand Final, I would have to choose Geelong by default.

It would be de fault of the other six teams who made the finals.

Its been announced he is meeting dees next week.

He was at our VFL game on the weekend, taking notes.

It's still Crows, Hawks or Pies for me. I reckon the Crows could get the Cats on the G.

You'd expect these results in an elimination final.

Not qualifying ones. I really thought we'd get down to the wire

How’s that equalisation going?

Another Geelong prelim. Another Collingwood prelim. The likely two best challengers are sides who share 8 of the last 24 flags.

Wow.

Two weeks ago we had the pies on the ropes about to send them to 7th.

How things have changed.

Over seeing the same old prelims cats & pies… cats trade in A graders in Cameron , Smith etc vs our VFL players

Too bad we don’t have farms and Ford Raptors and jobs for WAGs to offer our players in exchange for them taking a pay-cut, huh.

Never gets mentioned by the AFL at all. Some time around 2015 they got some data from the EPL that told them having one sided competitions didn’t impact the bottom dollar, and the whole idea of equalisation went quietly away.

Makes you sick, year after year and media is just in raptures over them.

Soft draws, real home games, non existent salary cap and every star player wanting to join them.

14 prelims from last 19 seasons the Cats, hate it but respect it as their strategy has been solid, whilst they have a uniqueness as non Melb club they are consistent with stability & rare off field issues we can only dream off

It's sad to admit this, but if a combined Cats-Demons team was picked at the moment, we'd be lucky to get more than three or four players in the side.

The intensity of Geelong's work rate, along with slick ball movement, completely tamed the Lions.

In fact, their so-called "oldies" seem much fitter and faster than some of our youngsters.

Perhaps we could spike the drinks of their list management team and, while they are under the influence, persuade them to trade Jeremy Cameron for Jefferson.

Please read the post (below). Maybe Redleg explains it better than I do

if bears don't win a premiership, have they been a titch disappointing over the course of this incredibly successful run?

one premiership to show for consistently excellent football...

I am!

currently waiting at Coburg station at the first leg, of many, of my journey

hope it’s not cold there

2 MCG prelims = what the AFL wanted = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. WWE rules

Don’t agree totally as yes they train & play on their home ground, state gvt have contributed 140 mill over 15 years to redevelop their ground all political vote chasing! Third party deals and salary cap hasn’t been proven, but their culture and stability , list mgt strategy of not bottoming out via free agency and trading can’t be question, just compare our trades to theirs since our premiership we would be lucky to have any in the seniors, Our third president & Ceo…

There is a thread for this lol

Yeah and this is the thread, the NON-MFC thread. As far as I know Derksen and Heath aren’t part of the MFC.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?
