well... Im not totally convinced that Riewoldt is the super duper player he''s made out to be.. but he's obviously good.

I am defintely sure that Thomas is not the great coach he seems to think he is !! :-))

id take Nick...Id pass on that over bloke :-))

Plus Thomas has ruled himself out with his comments on PG (thank god).

Big sigh of relief here too.... :-)) Struck me as quite bizarre his comments towards gardner.. love to know the back story there..lol

I dont want revioldt...we have dunn and bate who are still learning and would have to give up too much for him. Our list issue is defence, full forward, midfielders and ruck

NO THOMAS! I cannot stand the man and if he failed to take st kilda to finals with the list he had a few years back, he ain't gonna pull a rabbit outta a hat with ours. He'd probably try and steal all of Gardner's bullion too.

No. I don't like him and have found the media spat between him and Butter(!) unprofessional.

Riewoldt isn't where I'd be spending big bucks either.

I'm thankful that so many here said "no" to this........

Because Thomas would seem to be a hell of a sacrifice for one player that is not as currently fantastic as everyone says he is.

I am not sure the trade off would be in Melbourne's favour, as good as Reiwoldt could (can; will; should, whatever) be.

I'm not sure Thomas would be a great option as coach.........but I'm sure I have heard him say before that he wouldn't coach anywhere else, and that his heart lies with the Saints.

I can't see Riewoldt leaving the Saints either.

I am a new poster but have been a keen reader of this site for several years.

Finally I have something to add..........

You may just find Butterrs & Gardner mix in the same circles (ie: Atheneum Club & Brighton) leading to a natural Thomas dislike.

I played when Thomas was coaching in the amatuers and from first hand experience think he should go back to HR Consulting.

Err, Grant THomas made the finals almost every year he was at St Kilda didnt he? Having said that, the man is an appaling waste of space, I'd throw in my membership if he came across in any form...

In terms of coaching, i'll have ND and Thomas similar.

However ND's a top bloke while Thomas is right right right down the other end of [censored] country.

If ur [censored], make sure ur damn good coach and GT nowhere near there.

I know I won't get much support with this but I actually rate Thomas as a coach. He managed to get the Saints into the finals while having to deal with injuries as bad as we've hd, he's also one of those blokes who just think differently than everyone else around him, which can be an advantage. He lost his job because of a personal relationship going sour, not because he's a bad coach.

I highly doubt that we'll get Reiwoldt if he becomes our coach though.

Jacey, only you & Demon Dave have taken the initiative to assess Thomas on his football credentials.

He has by far a better record than what Daniher ever delivered. He transformed St. Kilda into a regular finals contender for the first time since 94. Before then, they were nothing more than a dead carcass and a joke. He also broke the clubs internal records for most games won since the clubs only premiership in '66.

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
