If you can't trade for them, the draft is the spot you get them. I think we've done well with our recent selections at the draft, but as good as those kids are, it takes a few years to develop them into reliable AFL level performers.

And I applaud JT for doing a terrific job at that (although I'm not sold on Kolt yet), but did Tim Lamb do enough to get outside players who can run and use the ball? I'm not sure he did.

Beneath pre-scheduled (and maybe even undesired) media interviews, and all the opinion and commentary from supporters, opponents, journos and ex-players - there is a simple game of footy to be played. At the G with the Dees wearing navy blue and blood red.

For me, the major lack this season has been in the leadership beyond Gawn and Goodwin, so I hope to see Viney, Trac, Salem, Melksham, and even TMac show fierce determination and intent, for the young players to follow.

Darcy is a real concern, but otherwise we match up well.

Bu there is no way to fully account for what is happening today between the ears of our players.

Watching on TV with real full investment AND curiosity today.

Clarry looking good in the warm-up.

Joviality with others, kicking with intention and skill.

Hoping he is back to dominating in crowded areas, and playing with some freedom without Goody's expectations.

Really hope we play with freedom and move the ball quickly. However, in the back of my mind there is an ominous feeling about today.

Genuinely thought we’d get 40K today, but now I get the rationale as to why they’ve closed a fair portion of the stands.

I reckon a smaller crowd than the North game the other week.

4 quarters of pressure and be adventurous with ball movement.

Players very jovial and carrying on as they run out.

Doesn't look a team that has had players sulking away all week..

Dogs fans don't travel from Marvel. Dees fans say they won't go until Goodwin is sacked and then they still don't show up.

Who is the new forwards coach, out there warming them up?

(Don't say it, don't say it, don't say it, don't say it...)

... I really hope Goodwin changes things up today.

Season on the line for Dogs and their fans don’t turn up on a perfect day???

the crowd is, um…,modest

Crowds disappear into the MCG. Chill out people, there is a reasonable crowd here.

At least Gate 3 was open today.

Came today to primarily watch a couple of players. Petrecca is one.

Is Windsor colour blind? Needs to hit a target or kick to advantage.
