Landing the gig as coach of West Adelaide is a family reason?

Yep his family wanted him to coach West Adelaide. There you go.

Gotta wonder why the AFL/MFC would choose to spin it like this.

I spoke with Nathan Bassett himself. He was contracted with the Melbourne Football Club for another 2 years. His wife and family stayed in Adelaide because his daughter was doing her year 12 this year. Nathan learnt so much in his time with Melbourne this year which will prepare him well for West Adelaide.

Confirmed that Chaplin has turned down Collingwood to remain at the club.

“I appreciate the offer though”

Very disrespectful of Coll to go public with an offer before getting mfc's ok.

Probably a tactic to pressure mfc into agreeing. Their sense of entitlement knows no bounds!

Delighted we are standing firm and knocked the idea back immediately.

Great news!

He is quality coach

They want to be coaches or assistants at big successful clubs that will get them noticed.

Like Yze?

I just hope they have some one to take choco's spot. Senior to high level coach involved in premierships to add experience and support in specialised areas, rather than a line coach. Hammil doesn't fit that.

Goal kicking and general kicking???

Darren burgess played a pretty big role as well

That position has already been filled.

Taylor Whitford

Cant imagine Whitford on the bench game day giving advice as choco did.

Was it the Club or Troy that knocked it back? I get the impression it was Troy who wanted to stay, not the Club exercising his 2026 contract.

so i read that Aaron Hamill is likely to join Melbourne as assistance coach in defense.

Mutually agreed perhaps.

Apparently we have reached out to Tom Hawkins as a part time forwards coach.

Nothing official yet but Cal Twomey announced it just then.

About bloody time but should have been a lot sooner.

Interesting, he and Emma have a place in Melbourne

I wonder what sort of part time we are talking about here

Will he do matchday or just help out during main training days?

Once a week work at training.

Would be a massive get for us. Been hoping we bring in a former quality key forward to mentor and coach our emerging key forwards. Fingers crossed.
