Those treating this as a fait accompli are well off the mark (thankfully).

For me it isn't whether Buckley is the best person.

The issue is the unbecoming way the AFL is putting lots of mayo on the Tassie job to stop him joining mfc (if he is offered it). And to create a blatant campaign by Caroline Wilson is very poor.

Also, I'm not fussed that he hasn't won a premiership. Right now regular top 4, PF, occasional GF are looking pretty good to me!

Its the AFL way. How many times has our club been shafted in the last decade. It continues to amaze me how we dont go full offensive on here. I would hope that Smith and Guerra are a bit more experienced in dealing with these [censored] bags and know how in time to fire a few back at the AFL.

Was always going to happen. Even with three Hawthorn footprint in Tassie, Collingwood has a HUGE support base there. Getting Buckley on was always a priority.

They shafted us all year, and when we reacted by saying the truth, they get grubby Media Hacks to do their dirty work. No wonder all football contacts I know, think the AFL is a compromised body and should bear the brunt of a Commission investigation asap, with heads to roll, and I would suggest to MFC to pursue a meddling aspect to this whole, ugly now, business.

Agree with your summation, mostly.

Except Goodwin, for all his faults, was a good technician. He has multiple innovations in the game that are attributable to him. The problem imo was that he throttled the player's natural abilities to fit his system. An assistant will come with their innovations and systems, but that wasn't lacking with Goodwin.

I see the board choosing Buckley for the reason alone that he'd lean more into each player and their gifts, Geelong do this well. His media ability is the other major positive and a change from Goodwin - a strong voice and a more mature Buckley second time around is a brand the club needs.

As you said, he's been mucking around on Best on Ground and spending time with Whateley. If anyone thinks the man is not desperate to coach, and desperate to coach us, they're either insane or have an agenda.
