I don't know why he is highly rated, but being at a successful club doesn't automatically make you successful or unsuccessful. Although I think having seen success as player or coach is very important.

Yeah, but as a kid. He was in premiership sides in his first and second years, so not a senior player or leader. Just a lucky kid, so that premiership record was never particularly persuasive to me, although I love what he did for our club as a coach.

You could argue that he was good enough to get games in premiership sides as a kid. That says a lot about his talent.

I think success as a coach is more important than success as a player. Probably helps if you have both though.

Goodwin would easily have been the best player out of the past 10 years of premiership coaches. It's a completely different skillset.

Clarko, Chris Fagan are just proof that you dont need to have a successful playing career at elite level to succeed as a coach.

Michael Voss for all his incredible playing career is a downright ordinary coach.

There are a lot more premiership coaches who were battling footballers than the other way around.

Hope for Giansircusa’s sake how he played has zero reeflection on how he coaches because he was, to be polite, an outside outside player
