I'd expect we'll get another letter today from Brad Green with an explanation, thank you to Goody and, most importantly, setting out what next. If they don't have that plan in place, then this has clearly been knee [censored] and is concerning.

They only way they don't go with a due process is if they have someone experienced lined up like Horse or Buckley. But I'd be surprised if that's the case, far more likely they are getting ahead of Carlton and possibly Freo (if they don't make finals).

I know all of that, as I posted up all the stats last week…. The timing could have been better….ie; after the last round

I'm happy and surprised the clubs finally shown some balls and made the decision this early. Now we get the first crack at available potential replacements.

Honestly, I just felt a massive weight of my shoulders as a fan, but also for Goodwin as well.

Similar situation to Postecoglu at Tottenham. If Postecoglu had stayed on after the drought breaking trophy but delivered yet another horrific season, his legacy would have been tarnished, but instead, he is now revered amongst the fans as a legend.

Goodwin is in the same mould. A club legend that no one can dispute and will always be known as the drought breaker.

It was time for both parties and interesting the time of sacking.. wonder if we have had a coach lined up in mind..

Comparing Simon Goodwin to Norm Smith is a bit of a leap.

Sometimes I think I’m living in a parallel universe. I’m not.

It’s a full-blown multiverse — where Spargo is dropped, promoted, and coaching Casey all at once… and Goodwin has just been sacked, extended, and knighted for services to “connection”.

In one reality, we’re a dynasty.
In another, we’re tanking for Harley Reid’s kids.
In this one? We’re 5th on expected score and 17th on joy.

It’s not quantum theory.
It’s just Demonland — where logic goes to die and hope reincarnates every Thursday.

Sacking a coach after a win might be a better strategy than doing so after a loss, particularly if it's a bad loss. It potentially allows for a more respectful announcement, a less-stressed playing group when they are told, and it makes it look like a more strategic rather than knee-[censored] decision of the Board.

We want to be a ruthless club, sometimes you gotta rip the band aid off. A lot on here were saying the board was paralysed. They've acted now and it's probably a few months overdue.

It's all very sad but so is watching our players looking perplexed and dejected on the field.

Best of luck Goody and thank you for a couple of wonderul seasons and some fantastic memories and really joyful victories and of course the flag.

I hope he lands on his feet and can keep doing what he loves.

But, it's time for a transformation. I hope we bring in some fantastic coaches and leaders over the next few months.

Looks to me like they made their mind up after that board meeting then decided to wait for the right time. Whether it was going to get out or some other factor they decided now rather than the end of the year

I'm going to wait for the official Board announcement before i make judgements about the call and its timing etc . At this stage we don't know what has transpired internally - only the outcome (and I'm sure Morris could only care about the outcome).
