Good player with great work ethic. Just what we needed in 2022. Battered and too close to the end now so respectfully no.

I’m in, he doesn’t cost picks and we desperately need players who are natural instinctive forwards to improve our conversion rate and to mentor the younger forwards. Of course if our ball movement and delivery doesn’t improve nothing changes.

The same folk not wanting Mihocek probably wouldn't have wanted Brown.

Horses and courses.

Some old battered and banged up bloke who can still muster 36 snags might be just a little bit handy... for a while.

Brown was 28 and arguably we were closer to a flag winning list (but not a dynasty as it turned out…). I want 30-40 snags for 10 years, ideally with a couple of flags.

Brown's body was cooked at 28, hence why he retired at 31.

Mihocek began his career later than most, similar to Fritta. He is still fairly physically robust, and is a proven goal kicker.

The chances of Melky getting through a whole season are slim. He will need regular breaks to get through.

Mihocek will be our second best forward, and will take heat away from JVR and hopefully Kentfield, and allow Petty to return to defense.

It's a yes from me.

The biggest issue now versus when we got Brown we are miles off a premiership.

Would good support for JVR, Gunston proved age no barrier! If his body holds up will be handy but we will need to pay overs as usual to get him

We still don’t want JVR being our number 1 target. We need someone like BM, even though I wish he was 29

Spot on bb. Brown played a big part in our team in 2021. Geelong has shown over years how good grabbing a good quality player near the end of his career can work. I forget his name but they grabbed a hawthorn player at the end of his career a few years back who ended winning the Norm Smith.

Any time we have taken anything from Collingwood in my living memory it has set us back and done them no harm. This trade feels like a media driven narrative rather than us seeking it out. I don’t fear an aging mihocek tearing us apart next kings birthday, nor do I see him causing them any difficulty if he came to us. Let them split their fanbase by either keeping him or delisting him. If we don’t take him, nobody else will either. If they really want us to take him we should make them an offer, give May a two year deal with a trigger for a third too and we will.

This trade

There is no trade. Mihocek is a free agent. We wouldn't have to give up anything for him.

Hes free and good protection for whichever of JVR, Jeffo, Kentfield we play

Hope we land him

Are we ?

We might be...

2019 we were 17th

We might be miles off.... or just down the road.

We didn't know back then but we needed to make changes. We do now too.

Apologies. This move. Started well before we had a coach that we SHOULD have interest. JVR, Jefferson, kentfield and Johnson on the list, not to mention petty. Any more on the list and somebody is playing out of position regularly. Are other lists carrying 6 key forwards?

tbf i stand by wanting 2MP fir a fourth rounder at 24 from the suns over brown, woulda saved us 3 years of chopping between key forward back up rucks. BBB had a good 4 week stretch, i think 2 metre coulda done the same and more. he won a bnf since 2018 too

Yes good point, I could be miss reading exactly where our list is at. Yes we need to make changes to our list but unfortunately I don’t have trust in our list management team though.

Ang , you wouldn't be alone.

If nothing else we now have fresh eyes in charge of that list, well, in charge of utilising them. In doing so King and Co will look ( npi ) to best use the players ( existing and new ) in the best way they can determine. Despite King having no direct ( yet ) influence over the list I can quite happily think there HAVE been some specific convos ( even now ) about glaring needs/deficiencies/ wants .

Mihocek will have been in the wind for a while. I would imagine List will have quickly broached Coach ... yay/nay ?

Its also entirely possible the new boys might have slipped a quick note to the List-lads.

We really aren't going to know til ppl are running around kicking sherrins in anger.

Like you... I'm just hopeful

Ok, so I hate to break it to you here…

Petty is a serviceable forward and a great backman.

JVR is very dim forward that has very few tricks and is easily quelled by defenders.

Johnson is a battler but has not shown he can be an AFL calibre forward.

Kentfield is untried at senior level and will need help and be shielded even if he does play.

Jefferson is nowhere, just nowhere, and I don’t like to talk down on players too heavily so I will leave it there.

Mihocek immediately becomes our best tall and provides some cover for whoever of that list of NQR forwards you want to try each week.

Would be good to get a FORWARDS coach as part of our assistant coaching panel. IMO this would help our forwards immensely.

Bit harsh on Johnson he did some good things protecting others and drawing defenders.

No one seems to factor McAdam into our future forward structure?

I was just listing the talls. And no, I doubt McAdam will play another game for us… shame really.

I like the idea of bringing in Michoek as sort of a playing coach to teach Van Rooyen, Petty and Jefferson and Kentfield forward craft, and maybe Melksham becomes a super sub type who comes on late in the games to give us something with his experience, but is a valuable coach on the bench for the other 3/4

I doubt we would be recruiting him as a 'coach' its play or bust and by the way... he is much better than Van Rooyen!

No its not.. just pathetic list management! Should NEVER have been selected! DELIST!

We had/have a very good assistant coach coaching the forwards.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
