Mitch Cleary reckons weโ€™re trying to get him out of retirement, per channel 7 news tonight.

Melksham and Goodwin are links and his uncle had a thing or two to do with the club.

April already ??

Its a good attempt but in my opinion its about 0.5%chance of happening.

Hes a very private person and has business interests outside of footy that i believe he'll embark on.

Doesn't address the Elephants aka 'delivery system '

Haha I love this, totally support it, love Joe and his whole "vibe" but I doubt he's unhappy with the way he finished off his career with the fairytale ending.

Would love it though!

My thoughts too. Itโ€™s as much about the delivery into I50 and our forward line strategies or lack thereof, as the calibre of our forward cattle! Yes it would be great to have a 200 cm plus, pack crashing, high marking focal point up forward but they are hard to find. Not sure Joe would be the answer but if he was keen well maybe at a reasonable price.

I still believe with much better delivery and much better forward craft and teamwork that we could construct a very serviceable forward line from the following - Fritsch, Kossie, Turner, Melksham, Petty, Chandler, Spargo, JVR, Jefferson, Tracc, Langford and I would throw in May as an option to extend his career and Viney as a defensive small forward. And hopefully a full preseason for Kentfield would add to the mix.

P.S. If we donโ€™t sharpen up our set shot goal kicking accuracy itโ€™s all a waste of time.

Genuinely one of the dumbest ideas I've ever seen a footy club actually consider.

Embarrassing and desperate from a list management team that hasn't been able to lure anyone of note for 5 years.

Weโ€™re not the only club to ask the question

Anyone in support of this can leave through the same door as Goodwin, Richardson and Choco.

[censored].

he's better than what we already have so why not.

he is the forward equivalent of Frosty. not good for those with an anxious disposition

Perhaps one of the reasons we have such poor delivery into the forward line is because we have such poor forwards - or forwards who aren't exactly screaming for it or who you'd back in. The players seem to do OK at hitting up Pickett.

Joe Daniher: Long shot, but great that the club is being active and leaving no stone unturned. Would seriously straighten us up.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourneโ€™s response to last weekโ€™s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coachโ€™s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast.ย In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourneโ€™s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

Epic battle alert. ย This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coachโ€™s showdownย pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% winย rate)ย againstย hisย protรฉgรฉ Daisy Pearce (16ย games,ย 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisyโ€™s record doesnโ€™t yet reflect her impact โ€” but sheโ€™s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Daisโ€™ย isย mythic. ย Likeย Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill herย (sporting metaphor) orย be her. ย Toothersย Daisy Pearceย isย a role model,ย someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chancesโ€”plenty of themโ€”but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Portโ€™s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmyโ€™s inclusive bannerโ€”"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwoodโ€™s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.ย
