Noah leads marks to a wavering lace out pass.

Kicking for goal is keeping opposition in striking distance.

Billy the kid keeps his feet in the clinches.

Gomez Adams doin’ alright fourth defensive mark.

Patrick Ireland big grab in the square goal!

i think we have something to work with here still 18 or 19, don't think he is ready for a game this but next year definitely worth a shot

he's not yet 19

very raw but has pace, which is a big plus

Gee would love to see kynan & taj produce something tonight

along with billings and laurie, they're both very vanilla - show nothing that indicates that they can step up to afl level

patrick ireland is an interesting type - not hugely tall, but mobile and attacks it in the air

Young defensive talls going well. Howes intercept.

Verrall has got stronger in the gym standing up in ruck against taller opponent.

Taj Woewodin nice touch over the boundary.

Bees 🐝 umpire assist goal.

Casey get repeat inside stoppages.

Will Verrall free fifty goal.

Howes excellent. Did laugh at the Footscray 500 comment.

Who is number 74 , please?

Wardell Lual. 26yr old who played for Werribee last year.

Adams and Howes by far mfcs best. Culley doing ok as well as Billings. Laurie struggling it seems playing purely as a half forward.

Mitch Hardie. Controversial thinking. Draft him in. Late pick. He will walk into our best 22. Know how to play half forward. Knows how to kick goals. Hits targets.

Skill errors galore by both teams at the half

Nobody apart from Howes, and perhaps, Adams pressing for senior selection at this stage.

lIke watching Casey. Only 5 goals to the half but better than the winners last year in the vfl

2nd Q
Howes 8.5 Adams 8 Smith 2

R. Bonner 5 Lual 4 Freeman 1

K. Brown 5 Billings 6 Woewodin 4.5

H. Sharp 7 Fullarton 2 Laurie ??

Henderson 1 Kentfield 1 Hardie 3

Verrall 6.5 Culley 4 Spargo 3

Baldi 4 Mentha Jnr 4 Ireland 2

Yze 4 Sruk 1

Verall looks like he is worth persevering with, especially in that second ruck role, if he can develop some forward craft. Howes stands out. Billing’s has been good but desperately looking for something big from our younger guys, e.g. Kentfield.

Surprised how poor the standard is, wouldn’t hold their own against a decent suburban team, absolutely hopeless.

Menthol and Kentfield , not up to it.

It’s hard to believe how many absolute garbage commentators Ch7 has.

Thank Christ they’re not umpiring.

Charlie Spargo “provocateur” heats up the half time entertainment.

Cooler heads prevail it was looking like an all in stoush brewing.

5 goals 5 behinds balances the ledger.

Positive spin on the game, it’s a contested defensive pressured performance. Casey ground some ascendancy that qt.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
