I'm tipping:

  1. Chris Scott to gaslight the entire umpiring department,

  2. Voss to say the boys ‘just need to execute’,

  3. Damo to break a 'scoop' that was tweeted two days ago,

  4. Kane Cornes to challenge a 12-year-old to a time trial,

  5. Max to deliver a press conference more heartfelt than most eulogies.

some good games to look forward to.

suns pies looks the pick of the round.

No Formula 1 this weekend. Perhaps just as well after the heartbreak of last week.

Tour de France is on but without a horse in the race it's a long watch.

Test cricket in Jamaica is a day night Test with the evening session starting around 9:30am Melbourne time on Sunday

Second placed Melbourne Storm play the Knights is Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.

The AFL have another round in what seems like a never ending season.

Casey (13th) play Werribee (14th) in a must win game in front of a zero crowd at Whitten Oval on Saturday night

Carlton players to lift for Voss after that disgusting “murder slur” which ..”surprise ..surprise” was by a Collingwood member.

What is the point of the floating fixture if, in a round with a lot of critical games, we are instead getting 12th vs 2nd as the prime time Thursday night game?

Why not 3rd vs 6th, or 4th vs 8th, or 5th vs 9th? All crucial games in what is other wise a dud season for the AFL, given that 7 weeks out from finals only 9 teams can make the 8. But no, instead we get Carlton.

The desire for existing eyeballs is coming at the expense of growth for the game - by putting on better games of footy in more visible time slots. The last month’s narrative has been ‘Pitchforks for Voss’ as the lead story, instead of the actual games.

I’m so bored by the AFL. They’ve mistaken ‘constant content’ for entertainment, and it’s so dull.

HOW HIPWOOD CONTINUES TO GET A GAME IS RHE 8TH WONDER OF THE WORLD

Feels like a VFL type crowd. you can hear individual fans yelling

bad start carlton. very flat atmosphere. reckon they are goin to get pumped

One can only hope.

Crowded Blues forward line and they manufacture a goal under difficulty. The Lions use system and pressure and create a nice goal.

Reminds me of watching the Dees, unfortunately…

hipwood is not a very good footballer

Hipwood is The most OVERATED player on any AFL LIST

Most blatant blocking by Cameron (though not too successful). No free. Umpiring continues to be soooo inconsistent

if any team deserves to stuff up touching it for a behind on their own goal line its Carlton

Just watching the blues and lions. It is like watching the Dees. Poor kicking for goal and numerous players that have skill levels below their lion oponents. It ain't Voss. Cripps misses another.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.
