That review shows how corrupt the competition is. Footage showing touched was there but not provided/shown until after the goal was awarded. 0% chance that occurs to Pies or Cats, or for this time only, the Crows.

But any chance our football department or coach will rock the boat No way in HELL !

Yet another game we should have won, but didn’t

Nothing changes with Goodwin & Co

Not Fit enough above the shoulders…

The Football Department needs a serious clean out

1st quarter 1 goal 6 and 2 on the full, at worst should gave been 4-4, really 5-3 or 6-2 for level of shot difficulty!

Professional footballers need to look in the mirror!! Players need to be held accountable!

While I’m not made on the coaching panel - just repeat the stat:

1 goal

6 behinds

2 on the full

When you are dominating you need to put the score on the board!

I remember Grundy said the thing he noted about Melbourne was how much time they spent on goal kicking!

Sometimes it’s the players!!!

So the cliff is almost here. That was a reasonable performance but there was never a moment where we looked like we could win. They held us at arm's length from the minute we kicked our 5th goal in that run. Just a matter now of how quickly and effectively we can rebuild the list. We're going to be bottom 6 for the second season in a row, so rebuilding on the run clearly hasn't happened. Need to go very hard at trading assets like Oliver, Salem, Lever, Fritsch and hope that Gawn, May, Viney have enough decent footy in them to stop us from falling into a 2007-09 style hole while the kids develop. Could also trade Petracca, but I really don't want to see a guy with actual elite standards go when we have so many who half-[censored] it.

Cliff has arrived! Need new ideas new voice and make bold decisions to trade out some premiership heroes to get rejuvenate the list with new exp talent, Simon time has arrived also

Jefferson looks and plays like a schoolboy! Give him next pre season to bulk up more, but if he can’t compete he won’t make it!

I hope he does, but doesn’t look even close on what I’ve seen in his few AFL games.

Good to see Roo play much better today!!

All about clearances.

We won the free count...marks... tackles...kicks... handballs but got smashed in the clearances.

It didn't help when Oilver got 2 free kicks in a row against him that both should have been paid to him.

One for holding the ball that was ridiculously paid head high tackle.

The second he was being held out of the contest and got holding paid against him

That changed the momentum of the game

Not when the Same problem has been there for 4 Seasons. You can’t just HOPE it rectifies itself

I reckon we win that game if Disco plays forward and TMac back. 16 marks and kicks straight.

I think u are correct! Leaving out Tom McD just puzzles me.

I hate to have to say it… but Jeffo looks like a bust. Do we persist for more games in 25 or just cut our losses?

Some really lacklustre chasing efforts and saw him go for a toe poke rather than try pick it up if the ground. That was the most glaring. I coach kids footy and kids who are hesitant to engage in trying to pick up the ball stick out and Jeffo looks to be not wanting to bust a gut or put himself in any chance of physical contact. Will not make it

JVR is at 70% goal kicking efficiency.

One golden nugget in an otherwise depressing game day.

1st time McVee got his colours lowered,so glad Goody changed things up and made a change🤔in saying that the back line got murdered by the midfield,.Rankin and co just did what they liked

And yet they slaughtered us by 13 points and they are a top four side….!!!

How about Viney scoring a try and not being pinged?

MFC said at the start of the season we are expecting to play finals this year and rebound and yet another season with a bottom 4 finish.

Same problems for several seasons to boot.

Goodwins time is up. Change is needed this year not next season.

It was very cleverly played by JV.

No they are not, but not enough preparation is given to psychological methods

These guys in the Forward Line are defeated before the game starts

THAT is on the Coaching Staff and Hi Performance Team

2 blocks of 5 consecutive losses, Simon can not rationalise that.

The first block came against:

8th

16th

7th

4th

13th

The second block has come against

15th

1st

11th

7th

3rd

If we had gone 2-3 in both those blocks we'd be equal 6th on the ladder.

The North, Essendon, Saints and Port games have cost us our season.

It’s a revelation

But a bit like trying to shoot under 8

Every 6 holes/

1 GIR

1 double bogey

Etc etc

Except, we are pus

It’s not about size. Skinny players can have a presence. He lacks physicality and is scared of contact. He has no confidence and will not make even a 3rd tall AFL option. Delist now and save the spot for someone who has a go. Fullerton is a better player and he is also not AFL standard.

Just now, Pirlo said:

All I'm calling out is that if we had beaten the teams below us in those blocks our season would still be alive.

Frustrating as per our new standard.

If Jefferson is AFL standard then so am I, sheesh he’s ordinary. Apologies to the bloke but fair dinkum.

Thankfully JVR reminded us that he’s an AFL footballer.

We should bow out of the season now, it’s too painful to watch.

I'm genuinely intrigued that the conversation , as such , is deemed by many to be about Goody's new plan and the difficulties ( supposedly) of the team to adjust and perfect.

Today , an interesting effort ( at times ) displayed much more than just an inability to finish off not just the 'gamestyle' but the game itself.

There are to some observers the poor locating of magnets as well as the inclusion of magnets with weak or mixed polarities.

There are other options but the powers that be are loathe to implement. Odd really as they might actually benefit the somewhat flawed 'plan'.

The problems we have are far greater than the gameplan. Selection, Placement...and Preparation.

The trifecta

1 hour ago, Sir Why You Little said:

Agree with this. I think our problems are more Coaching than players.

Coaching includes Fitness and Hi Performance Staff. We are not prepared to a High enough Level.

Players who are totally focused do not miss the shots we had at Goal in the First Quarter

I wonder how many other teams would stuff up with our entries.

I think its called strategy, Resting key players at times, so they can play well against other sides, usually the weaker sides. Because 4 points against carp sides means as much as 4 points against the top sides. Lose the first 5, season over.

Like why play the very best side against someone ( player or team) you will inevitably lose to. It's strategic over the WHOLE season. Its not how you get to the season finals but IF ( IF) you do. Couple of years ago a Collingwood mate said its not by how much you win, but If you win. They won a number of games by very small amounts. They were sheethouse as a side, but they made the finals.

Again they have more assets doing strategy than we do, It's a football department problem in the main. In my view.

Kicking for goal and forwards 50 , might be totally different.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
