During yesterday’s North game, Nick Dal Santo was the boundary reporter and in the last quarter he said he heard one of the umpires tell the other umpires “We don’t have to save the game.”

Wondering what that means 🤔

Well done Ross Lyon for calling out the Daicos friendly umpiring.

Results this week show just much the last three weeks have hurt us. Oh what could have been.

Well, we can probably expect two possibly three major Clubs get normal frees and (benefits of doubt) next week or two. Carlton and Essendon because they are just too hopeless, and Geelong because they had to play Brisbane last week so they deserve a break.

Collingwood situation is at a stage where there should be a revision of rule, plain and simple or we will just call it and the pile on top rule, the Collingwood rules.

There are other rules as well.

Winning with a scoreless last quarter

North Melbourne's win over Carlton yesterday was the 81st time a team won a V/AFL game despite not scoring in the fourth quarter. The Kangaroos were also involved in the last time this happened, when they played Melbourne in Round 15 last year.

3QT: Melbourne 11.4.70 led North Melbourne 5.7.37 by 33 points

Final: Melbourne 11.4.70 def North 10.7.67 by 3 points

North Melbourne have now won six games without scoring in the final quarter. The Shinboners last achieved this feat in Round 7 1958 (when they defeated Collingwood) but also did so the week before (when they defeated Essendon).

Personally, my lens is that it shows someone who has zero ability to manage emotions when the heat is on... It wouldn't stand for any other workplace, so why is it acceptable in this context.

To think that 'it's football' and gives it a free pass, is an indictment on the culture that IS football.

What we know as a fact, in terms of behavioural change, is that the best motivator in the world is fear... BUT it only ever works for the short term. And is not sustainable long term, people tune out, or disengage. Think of it in terms of someone getting overtly angry at you... how do you respond?

With the Suns likely to have a gimme game in Round 23 against the Bombers and the Dogs playing Richmond it could be a very important game for GWS from a final 8 perspective
