Are you serious? - No way May plays at Casey.

His form has been good and he's of also of value to the team in a mentoring capasity and setting the standard. I'd even like him to play up forward with some of our developing forwards. He'd make them walk taller playing along side them and if they're not doing the required team things and/or committing to the contest, I think a Maysy rev-up could actually be a good thing for them too.

Melksham should also be played when fit for similar reasons and how funny would it be to see him play in a forward line with May.

I'd be quite OK with Lever and/or possibly even Petty being dropped back to Casey to find some form and hunger. Would love to see T Mac given the opportunity to get to 250 games this season - his service to the club and form this year deserves it.

Sick of seeing us wasting games on Laurie. Would far rather we get some more games into Tholstrup, Kynan Brown, Adams, Woey jnr, Sestan, Culley and possibly one or two others like Sharp and Verrall.

Have loved his season to date, but I think Langford looked tired and lacked impact on Sunday, so could do with a rest.

Also time to end the Winsor experiment at half back put the kid back on the wing and let him play his natural game.

The irony would be if by playing guys who are keen as to prove them selves, changing things around a bit and releasing the shackles of expectations as bit that we actually play with more freedom, flare and start attacking more effectively and winning games.

TMac should bi no matter what should never had been dropped how petty gets a game instead is mind boggling

Good for him... 🙄

There are any number of scenarios whereby 13 wins with approx 105% gets you 8th.

None of those matters nor apply to us. We'll struggle to clock another 3 or 4 wins the way we're going. If Simon's brave and racks the cue and trials a few players the ladder position will reflect. Though I'd be happy enough to explore that. No other chocolates being on offer.

Reality is I'm inclined to think we'll finish no higher than 2024, with less wins and a worse %

That's really all you need to understand.

I don't doubt we're dead for 25. For mine the question is can we start the 26 resurrection now.

Interested in which 3 or 4 wins you are predicting

West coast Carlton and saints I guess

North 50/50

Adelaide hawks CW GOLD COAST BULL DOGS ALL TOO GOOD

It's a very murky crystal ball.... but

Possibly 3 or 4 of

Suns, Carlton, StKilda and Weagles.

I ran the Squiggle AFL Predictor and it has us finishing 12th (9 wins, 14 losses)

Wins against - North, Saints, West Coast and Hawthorn

Losses against - GC, Adelaide, Carlton, Dogs and Pies

Has 2 teams making the finals on 13 wins as well.

Hadn't seen this.. but yeah.. pretty much.

For mine the Suns are a little wobbly atm... might be beatable but tbh... explained elsewhere why perhaps not. Will depend on our selection and structure....as indeed it will for all games.

But I would be in general agreement to your thoughts.

There's as much chance of seeing this guy next time you walk through the Botanical Gardens as there is of the Dees featuring in September.

Yep. This is the one year where late season wins don't affect our drafting position.

So we should be going full bore for wins with no consequence of drafting order, where as wins for Essendon and St Kilda are kind of detrimental to them.

Whether the players will be fully motivated by round 20-22 is another story.

I don't expect to win many games at all unless we fix up our accuracy and the oppo stop kicking with unsustainable accuracy.

Even the West Coast game is no certainty due it being at Marvel rather than the G.

This year is one single year where "tanking" could not help us one bit. All it would do is give a gift to EssUndone, which is very unpalatable; surely this alone should be sufficient incentive to win a few more.

Tanking or anti-tanking is in reality irrelevant.

There can be only one thing that has any real value and that's to learn something about our list without fear of outcomes.

We're not playing finals. It doesn't matter to US where we finish in a fashion but it does to others. We can't afford to wait to discover what we do or don't have, just in case it helps, not hinder , another.

We need to just focus on us. To borrow from Simon...the rest is fugazi

I posted a month or so ago that the top 8 will take 13-14 wins. I just had a go at the Predictor over lunch and I have GWS in 8th with 14 wins. Crazy.

When you have West Coast, North and Richmond anchoring the bottom of the ladder the way they are, there’s plenty to beat up on. Then you throw in clubs that have [censored] the bed like Sydney, Carlton and us, you can see why it takes so many wins to qualify.

May is conceding on average 3 goals a game this year. He is in decline

We rejigged our game plan somewhat to be less defensive, so I'd put the additional goals conceded by May down to that. Maysie is still a gun and we're definitely a better defensive unit with him in the side.

As far as I understand we swapped our first round pick for this year with Essendon

Not quite, Mr Round Objects.

We swapped our 2025 first rounder for their 2024 first rounder and used that pick on Xavier Lindsay.

Bomber fans are enjoying the death ride this year and look like gaining a high draft pick out of the deal.

However, in an apparently weakish draft with many Academy/NGA selections, we already have Lindsay on our books with a year of development under his belt.

Suns, BB??

Big call!!

Well definitely the 4th of 3 as it were.

They're not travelling quite as good as a month ago .Like us showing a fondness for backward scorelines of late. I don't think we will beat them.but we might. As I explained elsewhere, only have to do a couple of things better and our game changes. Reverse our scoring and Tighten up defence by 2 to 3 goals..

Will we 🙄🤔🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Unlikely but possible

Probable ?...probably not... but we could if minds and bodies aligned.

Selection and Structure are key.

Be happy to re-comment upon team announcements.

Your query is definitely valid 👍😆

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
