All started by Sam McClure saying on radio heโ€™d heard Clarry was still upset about not getting to Geelong, so you can take it as absolute [censored] as I wouldnโ€™t believe McClure if he told me the sun rises in the east.

He is such a skunk

This is a little side note to this thread but the clubs really need to come together to create a proper second tier competition where they match each week to the calendar. These weeks where Casey has a bye while we play is awful for player development and management. The league has enough money in the coffers, they should be making it a high priority.

It's a complete disaster. They've pillaged and ruined a once-great competition while also failing to turn it into a fit-for-purpose, reserves-style second tier comp. Talk about worst of both worlds.

Hawks are gettable this week ๐Ÿ˜

They may be 3rd on the ladder but they've played 6 of the bottom 8 teams, winning 5. Their other win was GWS, 8th on the ladder.

They lost convincingly to Port; 12th. Their second loss was to Geel; 7th.

Their great %'age is due to big wins over Rich and WCE.

You can only beat who you play but that record doesn't say roaring success/finals contender to me.

Dees by 7 pts in a nail biter!

Out: Petty (concussion)

In: JVR

Oliver is obviously touch and go but I could imagine him coming in for Sharp.

Oh please not JVR on the back of one good game against a terrible Richmond outfit. I know we need height but the guy messes up our forward line play. He seldom takes a mark against a good opponent. If he is in I hope they play him as a decoy drawing a good defender away from the action.

so whats your answer with Petty out ? JVR has to come in. and we'd still be short up forward as he will do some ruck work.

Take you pick, od: JVR or Jefferson ๐Ÿ˜

Judging by Goody's press conference I reckon Johnson may get a call up.

I was teasing od; he doesn't think much of either ...

Why is Oliver touch and go

He is recovered from what ever ails him? I somehow I doubt it!

May be some positive news soon

๐Ÿค”Then you're lucky there's that other J bloke ๐Ÿ˜‰

Selection has been bizarre this year, goes to show how little we on the outside understand.

Hawthorn looked bloody good on the weekend, will be a good test for where we are at right now.

Jack I never mentioned Oliver!

No JVR, heโ€™s had a few goes and a few fails, No Oliver, canโ€™t keep changing the team to suit him, itโ€™s not right

Time to have a look at Sestan for Petty.

Reckon we will win.

Hawks have only beaten 1 top 8 team and that was in Tassie. They are on fraud watch for mine. This is absolutely a winnable game. They also haven't beaten us since 2018.

I'm of the same mind on Hawthorn, absolute fraudsters.

We are the hunters now, lads will be up for this and the West Coast game was a bruise free encounter.

12 months ago we smashed them, now we are almost $4 to beat them. Thought weโ€™d open up a little shorter than that.

Oddly (pun not intended) we were $3.30 for this game before we beat West Coast.

Then after we beat West Coast the odds blew out to about $3.70, before Hawthorn played their game.

I'd have AJ ahead of both.

I think a lot of that would have been based on Petty out of the clash

Also the fact they smashed the Tigers

Jefferson only had a short go then injured. We have to bring him on and now seems like an opportune time. If they do then leave him in for at least4 games to see how he goes. At least he has size and can hang on to a mark.

Excellent test this Saturday

Can we play 4 Quarters of pressure football?

We can beat Hawthorn if we are mentally ready for them, so much has changed since we last played them at the โ€˜g

100%

AJ's finishing skills may not be AFL level but his intensity, second efforts and attack on ball / ball carrier plus pressure, in the air and at ground level, is a fair way ahead of JVR and a mile ahead of Jeffo at this point.

They got themselves up for the 100th anniversary of the club. 100 greats of the club in attendance with presentations beforehand etc

This week will just be a regular game against a team they haven't beaten since 2018

And should stack up against an aggressive Hawthorn

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, weโ€™ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
