The MFCSS points to this being a tough battle and to the Eagles loading all year in preparation for this block of games (Dees, Rich, St K) laugh

It's fitting that their initials are WC. Interventions aren't going to make a difference if you don't have the cattle and your culture sucks. Didn't Mark Neeld have one down the coast somewhere after just the third game of a season? Maybe after we'd been pummelled by Port, Essendon and WC. We did come out and score 12 goals in the last quarter the next week to beat a bunch of 18 year old kids I guess.

Takes one back to the little red book 📕 and Chairman Mao. The Gang of Four (never coach by committee) and The Great Leap Forward. Five decades on and Greater China is a global economic powerhouse.

Mark Neeld sort out the Cultural Revolution, but got cleaned up when the Karma Team Bus got ambushed on the road to club perdition. Some posters are still reeling from the memory.

Last week's game against the Sqawkers suggests otherwise ( i.e. that they won't simply fall apart )

Just our luck that the Weagles might want to make this a statement game....

Do you mean like we thought about the EssUndone game?

Usual beat up nonsense from Caro

Boils down to the LG meeting with coaches as they are winless and playing terribly. You'd be shocked if there wasn't such meeting happening regularly

Yet according to Caro, they met the week after the Essendon game which was their best performance for the year

Gee this reeks of a "famous eagles victory"

You can just bank on Harley Reid playing his one good game for the year.

Can only hope these thoughts are a mere flareup of my MFCSS and the boys bring the heat on saturday.

I really hope big lessons have been learned from last years absolute dog's breakfast of a match at optus last season. Namely, show them respect. And tag Reid.

Viney needs to wear him

A sensible tactical decision like that isn’t really in Goodwin’s wheelhouse.

Other than the recent facts of Viney going to Serong and Taranto the last 2 weeks.

If I participated in the skipping championships it would only be as the halftime entertainment. I’m the clumsiest klutz ever there was.

I’m going to the match on Saturday. Same day fifo. I’ll hate myself on Sunday but that’s Sunday Me’s problem. I did it last year and swore up and down and black and blue I’d never, ever do it again. But here we are 🙃

Down to the bay for recovery on Sunday?

dont forget to pack your lucky socks

West Coast is an absolute shambles. One good quarter should be enough. Comparing the stats of the two teams on the AFL app and their team stats are very poor. We should be aiming for at least a 7 goal win.

I feel like this is a danger game for us. Last year we were 6-3, hanging onto a spot in the 8, West Coast firmly planted in the bottom 3 and we went over there and got comprehensively rolled and the rails fell clean off the season. This year we are struggling badly, coming off two shaky wins and west coast are desperate to put a notch on their wins column.

Not really...

They’ll be the first things I pack. I noticed a little hole in one of them the other day. I mentioned it to my son and he said I should darn them and we both fell about laughing our heads off

Stupid comment given his roles of the last two games against Serong and Tarranto.

Also when taking into account as you’ll be aware (as I’m sure you’ve sat in numerous selection meetings) that Reid has been playing off half back and the FD discussion will be whether to play Viney on him or give that role to a forward and get Viney to run with Kelly

Tom Campbell is a MUCH better ruckman and footballer than A.J on ANY day!

Judging by his performance against Xerri I'd certainly agree. But where does he rest? It would have to be on the bench.

Like TC, AJ would be competing against the opposition's second ruckman.

David King, Gerard Healy et al have shown, with stats, there's absolutely no correlation between ruck dominance and clearances.

I posted those figures elsewhere on this forum.

We had the same number of clearances as Cats and Freo despite Max dominating.

Danger game

Danger game

Called it last year

Danger game

Eagles will definitely fancy their chances

Reid will Play on ball

Eagles had big media focus this week out west

Dees are perhaps doing some drinking of their bath water after 2 wins

Eagles have been pathetic but nearly beat the Bombers only 2 weeks ago

This is a MUST WIN game or we will be an embarrassment!!!

I go with Sparrow on Reid. He went OK on Holmes. Limited him to 17 disposals and no score.

Obvious move. Dees fans were calling for this by round 3… Goody was 3 weeks too late!!

We’re averaging a higher score than the weagles (70.7 vs 63.6 +7.1), lower scores against (98.7 vs 115.1 -16.4).

Combination of that indicates a win, although both teams have been better over the past couple of weeks (we’ve still been better than them).

Playing in WA makes things a little better for them but they average 64pts at home and 62.5 away this year. Scores against are 106.3 at home and 117.7 away so they’ve been only very slightly better at home.

Worryingly our scores away are way down (81.5 home 56.3 away) though Flagtus Stadium holds a special place in our hearts maybe we won’t have the same issues as we had at the Cats awful ground or the Darklands. Scores against are 89.3 home and 102 away.

I think we win, but it’ll be 10-20 points not a thumping though I’d be happy to be wrong and see us [censored] them siren to siren.

Interestingly we’re 4th and WC are 5th on xScore vs Score (+131 vs +125) so both teams are converting surprisingly well. Hopefully we kick straight..

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
