Fullerton didn't do much tonight.

Do we pull the trigger on JVR, or really try and get him to smash the door down?

He kicked 5 this week, that seems a pretty reasonable return.

Melksham for Tholstrup. The lad needs some time at the lower level to develop his game. Catch is, no VFL again this week.

Turner should come in as well in the backline, but not sure who for.

Someone for Fullarton. Anyone.

Wouldn’t be dropping Tholstrup on tonight’s game.

Out. Fullarton. Gave nothing. Was outmuscled all night. I was so disappointed with his effort. No energy at all and showed no football smarts.

Out. Fritsch. Learned zero. Just laconic. Missed that last goal from 30 metrs out. Kicked two goals but had ZERO tackles and ZERO defensively

Ins. JVR - must play… Simply must play

Ins Turner back after his concussion

No VFL again!!!

What an absolute disgrace on the part of AFL for tolerating this as a “support competition”!!!

JVR in for Fullarton paying $1.01 (Gamble responsibly)

Not sure jvr wants to ruck… can you split the role with him and Turner?

I’d prefer Turner over Fullerton, JVR and Fritsch at this point. But then who helps max…

Isn’t Campbell back playing again. He would be my choice.

JVr for Fullarton would appear likely.

Turner's been in and out of the team, but his best game for the year was in the backline last week. If he comes back, it's into the backline, surely. Not sure we need him plus May and TMac though. Might depend on May's ankle.

If anyone else gets a game, it should be at Sharp's expense.

I'm a huge Feitsch fan but I'd consider JVR for him and tell JVR to play a Jeremy Cameron role.

Perhaps move Fritsch to sub.

Bring in Campbell or Veral to be backup ruck for Fullerton. Even AJ.

Note: what had worked for us is two talls in the backs and 1.5 talls in the forward. We need to keep that mix.

Out: Fullarton, Sharp

In: AJ (probably JVR), Melk (sub)

Have to think about Disco if he’s right, play him 3rd tall back, Rivers goes back in to the midfield, Tracc and Kosi forward? Kolt out? Maybe. maybe not?

Does May need a rest?

WC run with the 3 talls in Allan, Waterman and Williams, so may need the extra tall in Turner.

Out: Tholstrup, Fullerton

In: Melksham (if fit), AJ

If Melksham isn’t available, Tholstrup gets another week.

*Obviously JVR ended the game with 5.2, but AJ’s five tackles along with his 3.5. I wouldn’t be totally opposed to the JVR selection, but I’m a big fan of the physicality that AJ has brought since going back to the VFL.

Just curious, does Sharp deserve a game above Tholstrup?

Yeah I’d like to get Disco in for that and just to get him in because he needs games too. But Riv has been very good down back and feels like our ball movement is starting to click with 5 good flankers back there. Tracc and Pickett look better on ball. Kolt has added some defensive grunt.

Rivers goes on ball and suddenly the balance is off.

I know I’m in the minority here, but I think Sharp is just the new whipping boy for many on this forum. His game against Geelong was disappointing, but outside of that I think he’s done what you’d expect of him.

Tholstrup is a fair way off it, IMO. A full game last week for 6 disposals and 0.0 isn’t fantastic, acknowledging it was his first game back. His 4 disposals and 1.0 tonight, doesn’t really scream as being a retainable performance. We seem to have people calling for Sharp’s axing pretty regularly, when his output is arguably equal to, if not surpassing that of Tholstrup.

Tholstrup may offer us something down the track (personally, I’m yet to be convinced of this), but I think he should be trying to find some form at Casey at the moment.

Fair enough then. Being in the minority on Demonland isn’t a bad thing, haha

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
