I'd luv to know why Sparrow was shaking his head after having received a message from the runner.

I haven't felt like this since the day before they announced Roos as our new coach. At least back then I had hope. Totally lost.

3 goals 7 points in three quarters.

Make that 7 goals 3. Then it might be learnings. To be had. But I do not think they will review this loss. Why bother, if you cannot score you cannot win, What other learnings are there. !!

the way they started the 3rd should have been the way they started the 1st. The team is utterly lost now and playing some brand of footy no one understands and that doesn’t work.

Big changes needed.

I think there is a valid argument to be made that Goody has lost the players.

Not only do we look completely confused for most of the games, our pressure ratings are appalling.

There's no way he survives to 2026 and there should be huge question marks on Radford, Jones, Williams and Chaplin (and Richardson) too.

I think we're in for a big clean out.

A few good signs, probably all we can expect for the moment.

Decent performance across the ground, marred by a few costly errors (May and Gawn dropped marks), the younger players struggling a bit, Windsor hasn't been himself since returning, Langford can't handball to save himself, Lindsay getting too easily out-bodied, etc. etc. But tackles, clearances, contested possessions all trending in the right direction.

However: This was supposed to be the breakout year for JVR, unfortunately it's close to his worst. Add the injury to Jefferson, Johnson not there yet (if he'll ever be?), and Fullarton improving but ???, and we have a forward line that is a long way off kicking enough goals.

Agreed Bing. Not everything was poor, but when we were poor it was wooden spoon-ish. When we got 10 points up only to stuff it up in single moments so many times...

With so many things looking lifeless or getting worse, some of our younger players are looking very ordinary. They might improve and I hope it is quickly, but Langford is a real worry, and my man Windsor is a shadow of his 2024 season.

Smashed. Again.

But this time against a nowhere team.

While a win here wouldn’t have said too much about what we’re capable of, it could have at least given us some hope.

Turns out we don’t even have that…

Might be time to make the ‘back to hell’ DVD because there are dark days ahead.

Are we still learning and loving? 🤔

Norf are a nowhere team too.

I guess I should have stopped watching but I had to.

Why did the first 2 1/2 quarters look like a game of keeping off?

We look like we don't know where to be?

I felt for Tracc as it seemed to effect him the worse.

Maybe I will just stop watching this year. It's just to painful

we had 15 premiership players running around tonight

i expect a lot more than a few good signs

We are going to bottom out exactly how we did when GWS and Giants come in.

What a train wreck.

Christ, the footage of Chandler between Gawn and Petty talking to Jones.

Chandler couldn't even make eye contact with Jones.

He looked on the verge of tears.

We looked completely lost.

The third quarter showed they can apply pressure and move to create scoring opportunities. It shows me it is purely lack of care and want. I have no faith that Goodwin will do anything next week to shake up the team or change the approach. We will be watching the same ol every week until he’s gone. We are playing 2 down in the midfield with Clarry jogging between contests and Vineys inability to do anything but burrow in and t then torch the ball. To then work our way into the game and have senior leaders in May fluff a mark, Gawn fluff a mark and Petracca miss from 15 metres is embarrassing.

I thought the game was over as soon as Essendon scored their seventh goal of the game in the second quarter. We then start playing with intensity around half way through the third and began to look like the Melbourne we used to know only to lose the game all over again.

Only West Coast are a worse outfit than us right now but I'm not sure that replacing Goody is going to make us any better. Maybe if we still had Ooze at the club but that ship has sailed.

Saw that too and thought it very odd.

Is there anyone on this site still backing Goodwin in? Surely if this site is even a semblance of how the the power brokers at our club feel, then surely serious discussions are going to be taking place on Goodwin's future.

I keep hearing it's too early to sack a coach but do we have to be 0-10 before he's sacked?

Geez I’d completely blipped that from the memory. True but I see them winning more games than the bombers over the next few years. Team is decent. Still a while off, but I think the fans can have some hope.

I remember hope…

Facts

5 goals to 26 in 4th quarters . Horrendous

51 inside 50s - 8 goals. 15%. Horrendous.

Bombers - 43 inside 50s… 15 goals horrendous defending

16 centre clearances to 7 - score result 0.1

I’m 48. I was there in 1988 and 2000… And the Neeld era. But I’ve never been so depressed as an MFC supporter… Maybe my age is showing.

I’ve been on the fence but I think I’m on the “move Goody on” train. Too much talent out on the park to be playing this badly.

FWIW… I think the lads had a good crack.

My son came past and said dont worry dad, we'll be rebound in 2026. I didn't have the heart to tell him...

I am sure you'll find the odd one excusing him. While the players have been disappointing, ultimately the responsibility to prepare a capable team is on him.

Ahh yes ... That familiar feeling of utter despair watching this club self destruct.
The veil of negativity is like a warm blanket.

A blanket that has a whiff of urine

It’s hard to see us winning a game this year.

Nathan Jones will always be a club champion, but he has no place in the coaching box. Yet another deeply questionable decision by Goodwin to put him there.

Our players look like lost souls. Uninspired, lacking guidance, bereft of inspiration and purpose. The fumes of Roos, Yze, Burgess have long left the room and the team is looking to a coach who is, seemingly, only as good as the people around him.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
