It’s ok We will take learnings from this loss just like every other loss.

3 goals in three quarters. Should learn you that does c not win many games. To I think we got close at one stage shows how bad those scum are.

I think that will be the last time I'll tip us for the season. Lucky we're going to get an amazing pick. with our No.1 pick this year. Oh wait!

Sadly 10 minutes of team football combined with poor tactics in the first half is not good enough, People are lamenting May and Gawn mistakes, but in the scheme of things it would not have made a difference for those couple fo goals.

The team tactically and physically have not been prepared for this season to compete for 4 qtrs.

I switch off with 5 to go, so I didn't see the player post siren reactions this week.

Do yourself a favour and get to our home game aganst West Coast at Marvel in round 21.

Will likely be our only win for the year.

Very optimistic.

Goody should've been sack when he lost to the Eagles by 6 goals in Perth. Haven't been the same since. You just know he will come out and say we've improved in his press conference and "we have enormous belief in our plan and have a desire to get better". Just bin him for the love of god.

Post North after Chandler kicked 3 goals and all his defenders came rushing out I said he wouldn't kick 3 goals in his next 3 games (and if he did I'd donate 50$ to charity). He kicked 1 and was a passenger again. This is our problem. So many sub standard players that rode on the back of the elite guys.

Trac missed that sitter to get it back to 10 then they just kicked on & we gave up 2 junk time goals

Was that the difference in the game? No.

Fair dinkum the club are gaslighting us or even just being straight up dishonest to us about the connection and ‘love’ they have.

Something feels amiss and broken.

It’s starting to feel disingenuous.

Time for big balls and big calls. The damage that zero change is causing to this football club is catastrophic.

Last week Goodwin banged on about not just wanting to get better…

Were we better tonight, or less than that?

I’m genuinely somewhat intrigued by what he’ll say tonight. But I don’t have the fortitude to watch it. I’m sorry. It’ll be some [censored] that will make my heart sink and blood boil at the same time.

The captain telling me, still, the Titanic is not sinking, even though we’re up to our necks…

A few good signs, probably all we can expect for the moment.

Decent performance across the ground, marred by a few costly errors (May and Gawn dropped marks), the younger players struggling a bit, Windsor hasn't been himself since returning, Langford can't handball to save himself, Lindsay getting too easily out-bodied, etc. etc. But tackles, clearances, contested possessions all trending in the right direction.

However: This was supposed to be the breakout year for JVR, unfortunately it's close to his worst. Add the injury to Jefferson, Johnson not there yet (if he'll ever be?), and Fullarton improving but ???, and we have a forward line that is a long way off kicking enough goals.

Study the 3rd quarter all week Johnathan Brown says. So study how to play against an opposition that's got a 5 goal lead and can afford to play as if they've got another quarter up their sleeve to relaunch their running+attack/uncontested mark game style?

Fools gold. Players also celebrated those goals like they were up by 6 goals themselves. Embarrassing

Totally agree with that. When Fritsch kicked that goal you would have thought we were 10 goals up. It give an insight into his thinking.

Sparrow. Probably.

I am devastated about watching Kozzy play for another club.

We're a step closer to a new coach I guess.

The sooner the better.

Ahh yes ... That familiar feeling of utter despair watching this club self destruct.
The veil of negativity is like a warm blanket.

So depressing that we will most likely be bottom 4 and we won’t even have our natural 1st round draft pick. Least Lindsay and Langford look good.

But our method is broken and our talent forward of the ball is not good enough

I’m 48. I was there in 1988 and 2000… And the Neeld era. But I’ve never been so depressed as an MFC supporter… Maybe my age is showing.

I’ve been on the fence but I think I’m on the “move Goody on” train. Too much talent out on the park to be playing this badly.

FWIW… I think the lads had a good crack.

And Menzie would have to be the biggest list clogger in the AFL. Doesn’t say too much about our backline, does it?

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
