This seems to be the issue, P-Man. That deep hunger and drive that makes us want to play and support footy appears to be totally absent now. Our spirit is probably best defined by Fritsch who looks lazy, disinterested, and indifferent.

It's half time. we cant score.

I would expect to see some major changes to our structure to try and score. We cannot contest anywhere in the air.
If they dont, then there is no hope with this coaching group.

ur dreaming there will be no changes, how many games have we lost at selection in the past 4 years

Disgrace that Fullerton isnโ€™t playing. No one in the forward line can take a mark.

Fullertonโ€™s 5 goals didnโ€™t come from contested marks. Good decision not to pick him.

I think we now know why Nathan Bassett and Nathan Jones joined the coaching staff.

Coz everybody else stood clear of the joint or Goody didn't want to be over ruled with cold hard facts.

nope they have disappeared no surprises, i was one of the first to bring this up got absolutely abused for it

We have a coach with no clue and experienced players with no care. I am not usually a sack the coach guy but he is lost as are they. Whilst at it Oliver and Fritsch both need to be ommitted and traded at years end. The jogging away from contests and watching players run away from them continues to occur. Why? Because they keep getting gifted games and their mates in Spargo and Melksham come in with no form or many clear attribute they bring to the team. This is worse than Neeld era football because the names on the park are so much more capable but lack and understanding what to do and a want to do it at 100%.

Iโ€™m actually more ashamed of this club now than I was between 2008-2017

can we just sit out the season PLEASEEEEE

Well our forward line of midgets isnโ€™t the answer

Had one strong contested mark and goaled. Others from leading for the footy. Thatโ€™s more than what we see tonight.

Insipid. That is all I have to say.

I don't want to get in trouble but this team is [censored] right now and no amount of knight in shining armour positive Demonland grandstanding losers can tell me otherwise. If you played this game tonight 10 times I'd say at least 8 of them would go exactly the same way. We fall into the trap of thinking a new week brings new hope and promise to turn things around but none of that happens right now, there is no hope. We have come out 4 weeks in a row as limp as a charity wristband and it takes 5 minutes to register a tackle. The ball bobbles everywhere like we've never touched a footy before and the opposition's uncontested possession count goes up like an odometer. Why should we even turn up next week? There's no evidence at all that it will change.

6 smalls in a forward 50 is almost a sackable offence. We have no idea how to stop the slow and patient ball movement and this was the best you could come up with?

Great coaching from Scott getting Setterfield to man up Oliver at stoppages. Setterfield might be best on ground right now.

Sparrow is living up to his moniker of 100 games without a Brownlow vote, no-where to be seen. Fritsch can't get near it. Chandler, Spargo, Henderson useless.

7.4% inside 50 efficiency. That's 2 goals from 27 I50s. And for you umpire fans guess what? We lead the free count 10-5.

We stink, no-one knows what they're doing. Good luck.

The sad thing is. We have Tracc, Pickett, Windsor, JVR, Clarry, Rivers, Langford, Lindsay.

We're going to [censored] them all up.

JVR will be a Jessie Hogan at another club.

I love you all

someone needs to make a call

Goodwin gone or Trust Goodwin and trade Oliver petty Petracca

Probably lose JVR Lindsey Langford Windsor

Pickett gone

I mean why would these guys stay

I wouldnโ€™t

Club is a basket case

Why would anyone back Goodwin?

Maybe they are waiting for the new coach? Not the first time I would see a playing group giving up on their coach.

Are you trying to be provocative. What couldnโ€™t do better than Henderson, Spargo, Melksham, Fritta?

Just saw some vision of all of our forwards sitting together talking. Wonder what they are taking about?

Putting my 2 boys to bed both crying how [censored] we are.... so depressing ffs show some fight and man up, and if we loose at least make it hard for them to win

Thank god Eagles are in it. Maybe our only win for year.

I have serious doubt weโ€™d be able to beat them either. In fact Iโ€™d say we are dead set favourites not to win a game this year.

The players the coaches should be all hauled in front of the members for a please explain. This is diabolical l. We were promised this type of nose dive wouldnโ€™t happen again let alone with 15 premierships players on our list.

This is shaping up to be another forgotten era. 10 years before we become competitive again.

We're actually becoming an embarrassment to the AFL.

There's been some ripping games across this round but we are just dragging it down.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.ย  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.ย  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.ย  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.ย
