Right to go? He is 33, can't jump for at least the last 4 years, cant run...if he can make it down the race you play him, just dont expect him to dominate

I'm with you. I just don't think any issues he's facing justifies playing a second ruck that is even more limited.

Maybe Gawn isn't at 100%.

They might want to play TC for a game here and there to reduce Gawns TOG or rest him up forward to keep him going throughout the year rather than just rest him all together.

I actually don't mind him having a chop out here and there to prolong him further.

Also, interestingly, TC averages more contested marks and more goals per game then Grundy. Obviously Grundy is the better ruckman when he's on, playing as a 4th midfielder.

Still - as we all know, the cats will be walking the pill out of the backline with TC or Gawn attempting some defensive pressure.....

I thought this as well, however he at least got first touch a lot of the time at ruck contests but out mids couldn’t capitalise. His taps were always sharked or the mids were not moving enough.

His impact around the ground though has dropped away a fair bit.

Absent: Lever, Jefferson, Hore, Woewodin

As the session ended Lever walked out from AAMI, chatted briefly to the phyio staff and walked back so, unless he is a test tomorrow, I would suggest he will not be playing tomorrow night.

Based on the split between the Casey group and the main group I would expect:

In: Spargo, Turner, Windsor, Pickett

Out: Billings, Howes, Johnson, Lindsay (inj).

Campbell did come out with the main group, but was doing some supervised drills and running, so I don't think he is the 23.

I did see a couple of soccer balls, but no organised soccer game this morning.

There was Everton v Liverpool. 0-1.

Gawn is getting old

Let's play a bloke who is even older

Maybe Jamar can be the sub?

Great that Culley is right to go. I know it could take a few Casey games for him to regain his touch, but at 194cm he offers something different to our midfield.

Leb back this week, the blister on his heel has healed and the infection has cleared up, and yes I told him to stop wearing sneakers without socks.

X defs back for gather round

TC came out with the seniors not the Casey boys

Not a soccer ball in sight

lots of goal kicking practice

No Ricky Lever

Luker two weeks away

Jai playing for Casey tomorrow

@Ghostwriter

Thanks Ollie, Ghostwriter, Harvey Wallbanger and all posters, greatly appreciated. Looking forward to seeing who’s in and who’s out tonight.

A ruckman’s role around the ground in a fast transition game isn’t the role he once had. His role is to win taps and give our mids first use. He then is used to cover holes to limit the run of our opponents.

I hope Tom Campbell plays tommorrow he is a much better player than Aiden Johnson!

You don't need to add the kick in the guts picket, and I hope TC plays tmw as well.

We stopped playing two ruckmen when we had Brodie Grundy on the list, my mind would be blown if we start that back up again with Tom Campbell on the list

Sounds a great idea though I doubt if the selectors are flexible enough to consider it.

Um I am in the other camp, if Campbell plays it does several things

1 Provides Max with solid chop out and then allows him to be a forward line focus ( hard to match up on)

2 Campbell is a better Ruck than Johnson and I think a better mark

3 Allows Max some relief from the relentless Buffering he receives and helps share the load which also means Van Rooyen and others are relieved of Ruck duties, that has to be a positive!

I like it!

Lever and May haven't played a full game together since the GWS game in round 19 last year. It's no wonder our defence has been disorganised and a shambles.

Expect Miers, Close Stengle and Mannagh to have an absolute picnic.

And no McVee this year

4 hours ago, Adam The God said:

So who plays on Stengle? I'd be surprised if Howes comes out mate, but we'll see.

I can see your point, A, but it would be a major inversion of what they do at Captain’s Run if he plays after not being with the senior group this morning.

I think I need to read posts more carefully. Sorry @Harvey Wallbanger . I'd missed that detail in your post.

Howes won't play if he was in the B team.

Old duffa, Adam.

It must be a tough gig being on the ball as a God 24/7! 😉

Well, Harvs was spot on with his selection prediction.

I'll never question you again, @Harvey Wallbanger 🙌

In what has been a catastrophic year to date, this news about @Ghostwriter is absolutely the most diabolical.

She is scheduled for some technical training and I am sure she will be back on the "mojo wire" soon.

Not sure we should throw Adams to the wolves. Sounds like he’s getting close and they posted a video of him the other day, which you imagine is to wet the appetite of supporters.

I can see him getting a game before seasons end, but probably not quite yet. Never know though I guess.

Not in this climate.

Showing signs at Casey in patches and starting to hit his straps there somewhat.

Rather see him keep building there, especially given the pressure cooker we've dumped ourselves in in this first block of opening losses.

Might be ok as the odd temp cover for one of our TDs should they spend some time on the sidelines if we get back on the winning list at some stage.

Would hate to have him come in for half a game, get smacked up a bit, then out again the following week et al as he's just starting to build his confidence and playing some good footy now.

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.

  • CASEY: Collingwood

It was freezing cold at Mission Whitten Stadium where only the brave came out in the rain to watch a game that turned out to be as miserable as the weather.
The Casey Demons secured their third consecutive victory, earning the four premiership points and credit for defeating a highly regarded Collingwood side, but achieved little else. Apart perhaps from setting the scene for Monday’s big game at the MCG and the Ice Challenge that precedes it.
Neither team showcased significant skill in the bleak and greasy conditions, at a location that was far from either’s home territory. Even the field umpires forgot where they were and experienced a challenging evening, but no further comment is necessary.
