Interesting. Get the feeling Petracca would be better suited to a non team game eg tennis.

Or just stick to the cooking.

You think he hasn't already had a zoom meeting? Reckon a professional athlete may want to see the facilities they might be training at. Seems like the club is okay with him exploring his options. Don't really see what the point would be in the kind of secrecy you're talking about.

Point is that he is still a Melbourne player and if a suitable deal can’t be agreed there’s a chance( all be it a small one now) that he could be back playing for us next year.

Publicly courting another team is disrespectful in my opinion.

One only has to look through this thread to see that there’s plenty of fans who would have said he never wanted to leave if he didn’t make it public.

I'd wager serious money he won't be in red and blue next year.

Shame.

If you could trust any of the media it seems he would have left two years ago.

I hope he stays but I fear he won't.

He's been a great servant of the club and I won't question his loyalty if he leaves.

He's spent his best years with us.

Very much looking that way! Not happy at all but I think too much water has gone under the bridge!

Don’t really care where Trac wants to go, he can go wherever he likes

I just hope we take the view that he can go to a club that offers us a deal worth losing him and don’t let him go for cheap to fulfill his wishes

Time We stopped getting walked all over

Not the worst trade, rachele has a high ceiling and kicks goals, I can imagine him and Pickett both rotating through the mid

I’m half expecting a Fox Footy special with Trac saying “I’ll be taking my talents to Crows/suns next season”

Ironic to think in Kings novels a recurring incarnation of the devil is a black crow...

Agree.

If Tracc wants to leave that is 100% on the club.

The players bear no responsibility for the culture of the club. They are passive observers.

Players come and go so they are a small part of it. I blame Judd Mcvee. It’s been all downhill since he got drafted at the end of 2021!

Take that deal ANY day of the week in a heartbeat and MOVE ON!

If he meets Matthew Nicks in Adelaide expect him to request a trade to the Suns the following day

Well at least Tom Morris is serving our club for once, saying we won’t trade him unless it’s a good deal. I was half expecting him to tell us that Trac hates the club again and is desperate to leave.

Thanks Tom you [censored]

What's the point of getting rid of his salary . If we can't attract anyone of significant note to come to the club , we need to to improve next year not go backwards. really getting worried about Kings first year if we are down Petracca , May and Mcvee with very little established talent coming in the door !

Will be very upset with even this and next years first rounders form the crows ! Weak and compromised draft will mean accepting two picks in the 20's for a top 3 player at our club ( that's ridiculous and reckless if that's all we get even if we get rid of all his salary )

hopefully he wants to go to the Goldcoast much more likely to get a better deal

Any good?

Personally I think it's great we are getting rid of toxic players or ones that don't really want to be here. It needed to be done and we will be better off without them.

As for what we get for Trac. Why the arguing? The club will do it's best and likely already agreed on a ball park offer with Crows if it's got to the stage of Trac flying over.

Doubt we get a player for him as Crows are in premiership mode, hence the trading for Trac.

Maybe instead of 14 we could try something different and ask for 26 and 27 firsts.

You reckon there were some tears at Petraccas house when Collingwood lost the PF? 😁

Mum said they would always be Collingwood people right?

How is that different to the Prestia's being Melbourne people?

The media will want the club to take some lowball offer just so they have a trade to talk about. How about get [censored] you vultures.

What the media wants is irrelevant, it's what the club does I care about.

Are you serious

We’ve treated him like royalty & bent over backwards to keep him happy

Believe everything you hear in the media do you Binman?

He’s not even giving the new Coach, the new CEO the new President, the hopefully new culture the time of day

He’s on 1.3 million & you feel sorry for him

I find your posts normally very balanced, but to put this all on the club is naive,

Um Billy, i was being sarcastic. Players drive culture - good and bad.

If we end up in the situation of getting Rachele (23 next year) and Flanders (25 next year) for Christian Petracca (30 next year), I think that's just good business.

Adelaides 1st and Rachele for Petracca and we on trade Adelaides 1st for Flanders.

Rachele was basically a 2 goal per game medium forward, who also wants to go through the middle (Wonder where he plays if Petracca comes in).

According to SEN, Tom Morris has Melbourne’s blessing to speak to other clubs and added that he's also spoken to Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick in recent days.

According to Morris, Melbourne's stance has softened surrounding Petracca after they gave him the 'green light' to explore a move last week.

“Christian Petracca is a wanted man, he’s speaking to not one, but two clubs recently,” Morris told Nine News.

“He met with Adelaide today and had a medical, but I can also tell you tonight he’s also chatted to Damien Hardwick and the Suns in recent days.

“Melbourne is open to negotiating a trade for Petracca, their stance has softened since last year.

“My understanding is the club gave Petracca the green light to have a look around last week knowing they hold all the cards and won’t trade him for anything less than they believe he’s worth.

List management happens over the longer term. They could be equally eyeing someone for next year (e.g. Butters has been mentioned).

I agree that next year will be a bit of an ask if we lose McVee, May and Petracca - but you'd think it's going to be a transition/learning year in any case.
