Cool.

I’ll be over here enjoying great wins and tight contests, while you get to feel good once every sixty or so years.

Noted.

Perhaps he could mention that as part of a two-sentence statement on social media. The other sentence being “I’m staying with the red and blue”.

Petracca. Runner up in MFC B&F. 16 votes in the Brownlow. So to those that say he had a poor or just average year, “you better go to spec savers!”. He recovered from the massive injury and proved himself again as an excellent player. It was a nearly year too, where you could see him on the verge of a return to 2021. You could see signs in games. I’m looking forward to him having a big impact in red and blue in 2026.

I’ll say this every single time I read this type of comment… Tracc HATES the term ‘Brand Petracca.’ This term came from the media (iirc Damien Barrett) and at no point was it encouraged or embraced by Tracc or Bella or his family, ever. In fact, the term Brand Petracca makes Tracc sick. And angry. But what makes him angrier is when the term is attributed to him or someone in his camp.

What has he done to dispel the "Brand" view

Trac the poor guy very nearly died last year, lost all confidence in his body and had to build it up again, simply running out on a field again of any kind takes amazing courage and not only did he play again, he finished 2nd in the Bluey and polled 16 brownlow votes.

I think Trac deserves a massive congratulations for what is a pretty extraordinary effort.

I hope he stays in the Red and Blue in 2026 but if he chooses to move on, he will do so as a premiership hero deserving our respect.

He’s lit up our lives too many times to mention, and despite my earlier grumblings I’ll always respect the guy immensely.

But as others have said, the speculation coupled with the silence, is creating a bit of a tedious, creeping resentment.

I get the whole “don’t feed the seagulls” argument. But the incessant squawking has become deafening, and all it would take to silence it is a shoo from one particular hand.

trac aint going anywhere.

its a media beat up yet again. The player didnt request anything, our Coach has said he wants Trac and Oliver to be at the club next year, and it will be nigh on impossible to get $1.7m off our books to make it worthwhile anyway. Trac gave a commitment of sort at the B&F, hes publicly stated he loves the boys. Let it be media rats!!

I know you know the players better than most on here and so can probably set me straight - but my understanding was that although the media were first to say it publicly (who else can?) this was part of the messy leaks last year and so it was said by someone at the club (as a way of fighting back against all the negative things coming out from Trac / his management about the club).

I'm sure he hates the term. But that doesn't necessarily mean its wrong or unfair. What has disappointed me (and I think many dees supporters) is that he hasn't said anything to show he genuinely loves the club. Obviously a lot happened last year that I suspect most of us on Demonland can only piece together from what's reported publicly and so it's probably understandable he doesn't want to come out saying how much he loves the club. I'm not talking about the BnF speech so much - he has a big profile and so has limitless opportunities.

But the problem is, by not speaking when he has a bigger platform than all (except maybe Gawn) at the club, it looks like he is protecting his brand so that he can move elsewhere if the right deal comes up. So even if he hates the term, he's not doing much to prove it wrong (when he could)?

100%, and I think that is why there is a difference in how Clarry is viewed versus Trac.

One rarely talks in the media and struggles to fully articulate himself the best when he does, but he has he shown nothing but genuine love towards the club and a genuine want to stay. The other has a huge social media presence, is much better at expressing his point, and yet has shown comparatively little love towards the club. It is disappointing.

As has been said already, this sort of talk could easily be shut down... but there is nothing but silence. Whoever is advising him needs to open their eyes and ears a bit as to what the supporters want to hear.

Mate, you flip flop on everything.

We'll see you next week when you're screaming from the hills that we should trade Trac and blow Clarry.

Is clarry slang, like like Ray or Charlie, in that sentence?

I'd prefer that than a more literal interpretation.

I am all for keeping Trac but let’s not sugarcoat it, he did an average year by his standards, which are very high. Let’s not get caught up in the Brownlow as a reason yo keep him, the umps gave Viney 3 votes over Nasiah, this should tell you how credible those votes are

Brownlow Medal wins are only good for marketing opportunities. It hasn’t consistently reflected the best and fairest player of the year for decades.

I didn’t even watch it last night.

Sorry, fellow demons, Trac just polled 16 Brownlow votes. Why on earth would any MFC supporter want to get rid of him? Tell me in any world where we would get an adequate replacement or draft pick?

The coach has stated he wants him there; he has a contract, and if I had my way, he isn't going anywhere. How about a bit of support for one of our finest and a little less hate. He ans Max look like they are having a great time at the table.

I think this issue has been approached the wrong way.

He is not being pushed out.

He has clearly let it be known in house, that he wouldn’t mind change and has actually widened the possible clubs beyond Collingwood.

If he said he won’t go and loves the place, we wouldn’t be having this conversation and everyone speculating where he might end up.

I am pretty sure King would be very happy to keep him, if he was fully committed.

I think this time we are happy to assist him with his wish, to stop the constant speculation and perhaps thank him for his service.

I hope that he's fully committed and stays. His 2025 performance was all that could be expected from a player coming back from where he was. Time for him to fire under a new coach and a new style of play after a year to get back into the swing of things.

Wt f are you doing....talking sense... stop it, stop it !!

The truth as they say often lies in the middle somewhere.

Are we pushing him out ? Doubt it.

Has he asked for a trade ? Seemingly not.

That's the black and white of it so to speak.

Ahhh.. but the grey. All the half said and inferred things... the if's, maybes and could/should/woulds.

A simple reality , distasteful to some, is that the idea has not been unequivocally shut down. It could be, but it hasn't. There is only one takeaway from that and that the possibility is live. Note live, not necessarily likely nor probable.... but possible.

This to me simply spells pragmatism.

Im all for pragmatism..

Wallowing in mediocrity. MFC needs to lift it's game so it's not once every 60 years, that's the point. Cats and Hawks supporters have been feeling good pretty regularly over the last couple of decades haven't they?

I still reckon Trac will have to play forward more similar to Danger.

On premise I agree with you, but I don't think the overwhelming pattern of performance and output demonstrates that Petracca can consistently and reliably perform in such a manner, at least in terms of scoring returns. He's had one five goal game (2025) and four, four goal games (2017, 2020, 2023 x 2) but then the drop between 1 - 2 goal games is pretty significant (even three goal returns are low for Tracc). Best returns for goals are 2021 when he had a career best haul of 29, then 2023 when he netted another 28 (28.34 return).

To be fair, it's a bit of a apples and oranges comparison, given Dangerfield has spent more time as a forward; so we're comparing current output against a potential future output - so it's really all speculative.

I agree with the comparison between the two players, there's definitely some similarities, especially around their general disposal efficiency too; but where they diverge is the forward craft and scoring accuracy. Dangerfield goes at 56.24%, where as is Petracca 51.79%. I'd note that although these on a surface level don't appear to dissimilar, you need to account for Dangerfield having a further 163 career goals than Petracca.

This is correct and well put.

It’s a conscious uncoupling. Everyone in the room is aware of it. The only barrier is the venn diagram where our requirements are met by the destination club. Can we get what we think is reasonable?

The current requirement is a player and FRP pick(s).

Clubs like Hawthorn are baulking at that as they don’t want to give up on any of their senior players. They just want to trade picks.

In the end I think it will get done for picks and we’ll convey one of the picks to another club for a player 23-26 years old who can slot straight into the best 18.

Probably because Dangerfield has played an extra 147 games. Their average per game is about the same.

It would be handy to quote statistics in context.

At the conclusion of the 2019 season, when Dangerfield was a 29 year old, he still had a further 81 goals than Petracca does at the same age. In fact, his goal accuracy slightly increases to 57.17% (Goals 283 - Behinds 212), so I'm not really certain you're making the point you think you are.

But you're right, it is handy to quote statistics in context.
