So just read McClure said Clayton's frustrated with the lack of game time.

Well I think his fitness is still an issue & his ball use hasn't been great.

I don't get the sudden chatter about him. I mean he takes a week off to refresh & people read way more into it

I hope what they are saying about Clarry re playing time isn’t true. If this guy is seriously having a whinge about a 10% reduction in playing time I might just spew up.

Lloyd’s echoed my thoughts exactly he can’t play anywhere else to justify the added 10%.

Just hope it’s all BS, because this behaviour is not helping anybody.

I wish Goody or someone in leadership at the club would say something like this in response to scumbag journalists (who definitely find material on this site):

A beloved team mate is dealing with well-being and mental health issues. He needs stability and support. He doesn't need wild speculation about his motivations or future by self-interested journalists who have poor reputations and notoriously unreliable records.

He does not need distraction and temptation by a corrupt club backed by politicians, media and billionaires to cheat the accounting rules. That club has previous and ongoing form for improperly enticing champion players and collaborates with them by encouraging problematic behaviour to get them released early and cheaply from contracts.

To ensure a fair condition the AFL needs to clamp down on that corrupt club by ensuring that players cannot be improperly enticed through payments in kind and other off book entitlements and property given to related parties.

They've obviously offered a nod and wink agreement to two current players, one at Bulldogs and one at Demons. It's a disgrace

The only way Oliver changes clubs is if he tears up the contract and starts again. He'd be lucky to get $750K right now. I think we're stuck with him which isn't a bad thing. He's a damn fine player and if he can just get that bit fitter this off season who knows.

I dislike Geelong so much. I don't know how good Sam McClure's information is, but it has rubbed me the wrong way.

In all honesty, I would rather have Clarry on his current salary averaging 22 possessions for us than paying him 700k to play well at Geelong.

If he is deadset on leaving, the club needs to make it clear that his fresh start has a significant associated cost and the club will not be paying a single dollar of his salary to play in other colours.

This is what I don't understand. MFC signed a contract to pay Oliver $XXX over seven years; Oliver signed a contract to play football for the MFC for seven years.

MFC has, to our best knowledge, done everything required of it under this contract, whereas Oliver is clearly not delivering on his end of the bargain, at least not by performing at the expected level.

Yet the football world seems to think it is okay for Oliver to say I don't want to play football for the MFC any more and bugger off to Geelong whilst still getting his full salary.

Like you, I don't see how any potential trade happens without Oliver agreeing to tear up his current contract. That will be the truest test of where his priorities lie, although he could probably take a lot of pressure off himself by renegotiating his contract and staying at the MFC..

I don’t really get why everybodies so angry at the media clowns for discussing Clarry. We are discussing Clarry, our captain discussed it and pretty much confirmed there’s something in it.

I don’t like any of the clowns that are reporting it so I don’t watch any of it.

Feel for Clarry as I think he’s put in a big effort to get back in shape and turn things around and he probably hasn’t got the rewards he thought he would for doing so. Not hard to see why the thoughts of a new start- different fitness program and new ways of doing things might be worth a shot to get his career back on track.

Be nice to be earning the coin that he is but I’m sure at times it’s a weight around his neck.

It's easy to be angry at the media because it's been declared that Clarry took the week off under medical advisement for mental health issues. Cue the media to start up another round of baseless speculation about how unhappy he is at Melbourne - FFS, just leave him alone. It takes absolute guts, even in this day and age, to put your hand up and admit that you're struggling mentally. Why the media take the opportunity to sink the boot in, just because it's Clarry, is beyond me. It's such a cheap shot.

Clarry has put in an enormous preseason, and his role in and around the middle has slightly changed this year - people expecting him to produce what he did in 2021 is kind of unfair to him.

He is still racking up possessions, though his use of the footy is an issue and his salary becomes a lower % of our Salary cap each year, as the salary cap increases.

People are speaking about him like he has turned into a C grade Amateur reserves player.

It may not be his best career form but he is far from our worst player which some seem to be intimating.

What will be will be at the end of the year, but for now lets just show some support, for a player who probably needs it.

From a footballing point of view Clarrie's best game in terms of being a team player and getting back to his old self was against Fremantle

Didn't bomb it long and his stats read as 5 kicks & 20 handpasses. I felt his game took a big step in the right direction

Against Richmond a few long bombs returned and he ended up on the bench for 24% of the time (9 kicks & 13 handpasses)

So the break could also be form related but Clarrie has obviously got some issues where privacy should be observed

I wish him well and hope he is back playing footy sooner rather than later

He was however the Clarrie of old in that 3rd quarter against Richmond. He showed what an impact he can have when he is on

Good point Pennant, but maybe the MC want to see that side of his footy all the time? Especially from the get-go

We've seen Viney turn his season around once we re-designed his role (tagging and run with) ... and Petracca just needed to regain his confidence again (that's happening)

Gawn has lifted big time and Rivers is using the ball really well now instead of bombing it. As are a number of others

But that's just the footballing side of things

The MH issues that Clarrie is battling is a completely different story of which we know very little about ... and the media should be observing his privacy right now. They observe that privacy with other players

To be fair, it's only a few in the media acting up (this time)
