My read of the situation is that after they cracked the [censored] the club felt it might be better to give them some space.

Jay Clark is a Pies shill trying to drive down the price the Pies will pay if Trac wants a trade there.

Anyone hear the [censored] Jay Clark was talking about earlier about how Melbourne only just recently broke bread with Petracca's parents? It sounded super vague and he was backtracking a bit.

At least it's happened now I guess.

They can have him cheap, just get him and Oliver off the books. If those 2 net us picks 9 and 10 I'll be happy enough. Both have played a solid part in our demise.

Basically he saw Oliver talking to Geelong players after the game and then realised, without a doubt, that Oliver still wants to live in a farm.

Are you sure he said 'in' and not 'on'

I think we need to get comfortable with the thought that Kos, Trac, Oliver and even JVR might be gone at years end. Could also see Sestan, Laurie, Howes, McVee and Petty chasing trades. Some given little game time, others regretting contract extensions and sold false hope. We need some senior players with kicking skills and leadership from other clubs. Plus 2-3 high draft picks

Gawn to the Cats too? They need a ruck

Not even sure @Demonland is this pessimistic. MFCSSSSSS level here.

Our 2025 second round pick has requested a trade

We could package up Sesto, Bill and Howes for someone's fourth round pick.

These things are small potatoes for me now. I'm thinking long term.

We need to become a good club first and foremost.

#1. Get a training base. It's held us back for 30 years and we cannot attract talent based on 'good team culture' anymore. It's a massive hindrance and it needs to be sorted before we can truly become a club that has sustained success.

#2. Anyone who doesn't want to be here can go. Accept unders if/when required and get on with it. I don't want to see a pea heart effort like the first 2 quarters ever again.

#3. Rebuild as best we can before Tas come into the comp.

Has anyone looked at the damage petracca had from heeney in the Colgate ad? He has not been the same since he put his knee into the ribs for his speccy

That is ridiculous.

To me its either Clarry or Trac that need to go, not both. I have seen enough of Clarry and I'm pretty adamant he has fallen out-of-love with Footy. He has lost the ruthless edge which carried us to the flag. It doesn't have to be off by much but id look to move him on. Maybe Saints would be desperate enough to off us 2 picks this year and next.

I'm indifferent bout Trac, but we cannot offload both. Trac will at least give us some solid performances and set standards with the youth. He'll also play to his mid 30's i reckon.

We have to keep Koz to contract and only release him if the offer from Freo is over-the-top good. Has to be a top 5 pick or a F1 and this years first.

I realise I’m in the minority here but Trac is a grown adult, why are the club talking to his parents? At times it feels like these blokes are treated like giant primary school kids

not even the saints are that stupid

a late first rounder and paying some of his salary is the best we can hope for

Or, family is an important element and factor.

Mine is.

Mine are too but I don’t have them involved in discussions with my employer

True that, but my employer never had my health on a knife edge either. If they did balls that up my family would be asking questions (at least)

With highly compromised drafts no much point in trading players out unless you get comparable players in.

And that would be for the lawyers to sort.
Not ya mum and dad.
Especially if you're a 29yr old man.

Just saw that.

I dunno why the club needs to be breaking bread with Petraccas parents anyway.
He's 29yr old man FFS.
If a 29yr old was injured at work do you think the company is breaking bread with the employees parents?
Short answer is .... No.

The fact that the other fools at the table were showing their mock outrage just shows how immature footballers in general are.
Petracca even more so it seems after last years carry on.

Maybe the reason this meeting has only recently occurred is because neither party has felt it’s been necessary.

I think you’re getting a bit overworked about something that, for all we know, was just a dinner.

There is a huge difference between how Heeney uses his knee to get lift for the mark, that’s the way it should be done versus the way Moore used his knee deliberately, in my mind, as a weapon to inflict damage to the opposition player in front of him and in doing so actually limited the lift he could get to spoil the ball.

I think an organisation of any type would be sensitive to health of an employee and the stress it places on a family. Add to this the role of an Italian family and the way they work as a family. It was a workplace incident.

We need to move past this idea that footy is a ‘man’s’ game and everyone should toughen the F up. If Trac was my family, I’d ask a few questions and lose trust in the club and its medical staff.

im sure the club has invited the family into the rooms and facilities and encouraged them to play a role over the years. You can’t have it both ways…

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
