Casey will get a boost with the return of MFC listed players from injury and suspension. They have a tough match up against the Cats at GMHBA Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Really excited to see Jai debut for Casey. Will be the return of the big bodied centre mid we've needed since White and Munro departed.

Familiar ground for Bayley Laurie. He played out of his skin down there during a Covid lockdown early in his post-draft days in ‘21. A match winning performance against a strong VFL sCats side.

Shame he has not been able to again attain or retain that level of performance. Who knows? with cracks appearing on the once vaunted, first team’s midfield facade. He may finally crack the porcelain for a decent go.

We had a good tight win on the weekend against a very good team in Gold Coast. Our best Casey listed players were Bonner, Baldi and Edwards and the best Melbourne listed players were Turner, Laurie and Fullerton. Geelong have beaten nothing ATM in Northern and Sandringham. I think we should win by 2 to 3 goals.

Both of them are in my VFL side.

Presume that Turner gets promoted

Pickett into MFC after suspension

Windsor and Lever in after injuries

Given last weeks woeful performance by MFC, might be more than 4 changes.

Dees might consider adding Fullerton or Laurie as other players to be promoted.

A few thoughts following the GC game...

Jesse Craven had a very impressive second half. One to keep an eye on. Very clean hands, puts himself in the right positions (some lovely crumbs) and a number of quality second efforts and pressure acts / tackles. Appears to be super fit as well, heavily involved right up to the closing bell, including some timely clearances.

Laurie had some fab moments and a very solid three quarters but also continues to dish up some very ordinary turnovers under solid pressure and a few clangers / basic fumbles in traffic and on the move as fatigue set in late. Not alone of course and not sure they would outweight the good in terms of getting a call up but he is still a worry for mine in a stepping up sense to AFL. One of his better games for Casey though.

Possibly the best Casey game i've seen from Fullo who presented well & used his body nicely in some aerial contests. Kicked quite accurately and also very unselfish on a few occasions. Held his own at times as the chop out ruck for Verral when Campbell went down and well beaten on a number of others but he was up against a monster oppo ruck in Moyle.

Verral improving but still not sure what assets he is bringing to the table in order to make a difference at the higher level. Will be an interesting watch in 2025 though as he continues to make marginal improvements with his ruck craft and also somewhat improved with follow up ground level stuff.

Disco had a day out both up forward and as the loose extra behind play during red time in most quarters. At times he also lurked outside the press with great effect. His follow up work at ground level in a pressure and one percenter sense was impressive. I personally think we should persevere with him at senior level with alot less chopping and changing between seniors and Casey as he gives the impression he is almost ready and mature enough to hold down a role at AFL level. Would offer great swing man flexibility for a coach at senior level too, playing both to aplomb at VFL level. Albeit still alot to learn before cementing himself at AFL which is obviously the toughest gig going. Goes without saying he'll be straight in this week after such an impressive four quarter performance. BOG for mine.

It’ll (hopefully) be a nice problem for Casey to have next week with a potential 5 AFL ins. I could see a way all of Lever through Lindsay return to the 1s.

After DD’s glowing review Jesse Craven would have to be stiff. Mitch Kirkwood-Scott after his promising performance managed to retain his spot as the 23rd man. The hyphen helps. LG after your monologue on explosive gastro, l’d stick to Middle Eastern ancient civilizations.

My reference to porcelain, wasn’t referring to the now, sadly redundant underground men’s, adjacent to the former GPO in Elizabeth Street, after a dodgy chicko roll, (no full stops he’s got the runs). Rather, as a homage to Bazza McKenzie’s alliteration “Point Percy at the Porcelain”.

Bailey Laurie of course has his legion of knockers and and a more limited glee club of supporters. But as DD’s in depth review alludes to, if he continues to spray his passes to team mates he is really “taking the [censored]”.

I suspect (hope) Jamar, as ruck coach is giving Verall a few tips and tricks on playing as an undersized ruckman. He was the master after all!
