Given Goody has called out the players publicly this is now a huge game.

We'll know on Friday night whether he has lost the payers or not.

Surely there will be a response.

Without Windsor and McVee we don’t currently have the drive and precision off half back making our new game plan even harder to implement. I’m looking forward to having those guys and Lindsay in the one team and in form. I reckon we’ll see some big strides forward. Yes our form is woeful but don’t underestimate the impact the loss of these 2 have had on performance.

Totally agree Roost it they are only young but Oozze class and outside run that we badly lack, getting Kozzie and Windsor back this week will be enormous but can’t wait to get Judd, Kolt and Lindsay back as well.

Kolt’s likely to be limited considering his time out. Hopefully he gets a good run at the second half of the season. Having those 5 up and about will make our team so much better.

I saw 2 Hertz removal trucks this morning spells bad news for us tomorrow night.

Expecting an honourable loss while the team adapt to the new game plan. Don't think this will be a 186 per the doomsayers.

it was clear last weekend that they were hesitant with handballing and not playing instinctively, unsure of whether they were executing the right option and as a result there were some disposal shockers that landed in no mans land and putting the would be recipient immediately under the pump.

I'm heartened we're sticking the course though, even if this is tough to watch at the moment. If you look at Hawthorn this time last year they were a rabble too. We might win a couple more games playing 2023 football, but we won't go far. I'm hoping an injection of pace this week brings a bit of confidence through observed positive results and we're off and away (even if we don't get the result).

i'm currently laden with gloom, but i'm expecting a mother of all hidings

our last two games have been, quite frankly, appalling; the midfield seems to have stopped to a halt

mfcss writ large - "when things are glum there's worse to come"

Well, I'm as mad as your good self because I have a funny feeling, we will knock the puddy cats off on Friday night.

Everyone who posts on here or just reads our dribble must be Deemented. We are all nuts to one degree or another. Go Dee’s

One thing I truly hate is “honourable “ losses. The ones where you are watching the game and the 3-4 goal margin remains from the Cats initial burst. You sit there and watch as we draw to within 12 points with 10 minutes to go only to see the Cats kick an easy out the back goal. These games are truly grating.

For all the punters

Can we cover the 31.5 spread?

The line should be 60.

Geelong at GHMBA should theoretically be a much tougher assignment than Gold Coast at the MCG.

Tipping related - on the AFL website 2% of people have tipped Melbourne, assume all 2% are Melbourne supporters (myself included)

Lucky we don't have a CEO for them to protest against this time.

They head out with Stengle I believe. Provides great protection if anything happens

I remember a couple of seasons ago the players saying they treated it as an interstate game & they all stayed down there. I remember sections of the media laughing at us because it didn't take that long to get back to Melbourne

Actually, Salem used to often kick 40 metre flat kicks. And he was formerly far more decisive with his disposals

In the first half in the 2021 GF, Salem was responsible for 5 x Inside 50 entries with those same 40 metre flat passes

We haven't really seen it much since so I don't know what has happened to his game

McVee fills part of the void when fit and Rivers isn't too bad on occasions

We really need to get some fast drive forward from our half back line. And that's not a new thing either has many of the premiership teams through the decades have possessed that quick drive from the half backline

I'd hazard a guess he plays a different role. He used to play receiver at the back of stoppage to maintain possession in '21. Now he's more about maintaining possession in the back half.

Could we get more out of him, totally, but I'd prefer he play a solid role and others are tasked with line breaking and hitting kicks.

There are going to be role players on the defensive wing and in the back half that play a certain role to free up the likes of Lindsay, Windsor and McVee to attack.

Without knowing Salem's role, it's hard to pin point whether he is achieving his KPIs.

Where he is situated is where we need the drive from

Yes, but we also need to maintain possession.

This is where modern chains start from.

You want guys that hit all their kicks and maintain possession (Salem), and you want guys who run and carry, and can hit angled kicks or more aggressive kicks (Windsor, Bowey and Lindsay).

Anyone notice the train line disruption on the Geelong line tomorrow? Basically buses from Wyndham Vale to Geelong.

Suggest leaving now for those lunatics who are up for what appears now to be a double punishing (myself included)

His dinky sideways kicks slows down our attack and leads to a flooded forward line

By the way he's not alone

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
