Same movie as 2022, 2023, 2024.

Nothing has changed.

Goodwin and his empty promises. So much for the new game plan.

At least we were top 4 for most of that period. Was good watching us win, even if it was a slot at times to watch the game style.

We're headed for bottom four now. Time to get games into the talented kids of the future. Langford, Windsor, Mcvee, Tholstrup, Jefferson, Lindsey etc all need to be played if healthy.

Depth players like Woe, Howes, and Bowey need to be sent to Casey unless injuries hit badly.

Agree he had to go, but when will the club pull the trigger?

None of our forwards want to lead up and demand the football.

Couple of nice passes to their backs though

Everyone goes on about Goodwin, but he can’t help viney absolutely, totally, completely, butchering the ball going i50 time and time and time and time again.

Shocking stuff

Should we then delist everyone and keep Simon "Premiership Coach" Goodwin?

Guys we are not losing because of our forwards - although they are terrible

North have had 21 shots from 37 entries. We are not running hard enough

So many unmarked players when they attack

Easy to see why Trac and Pickett wanted out so badly.  The slide continues.

Get out while you can.

Game not over but Same old issues bombing into fw50 nothing has changed! Other clubs trade in experience key positions whilst all we can do is draft vfl players( no disrespect to the Werribee boys) look at who hawks have trading, pies getting Houston, cats etc, our trading since 21 is pathetic  if they win will be a miracle

Biased commentary on foxtel is ridiculous. They’re screaming every time Roos get the ball (despite easily being in the lead) then you hear there interest drop anyone time make any kind of comeback

I just can't see us doing anything this year.

Hate to be negative but absolutely pathetic skill level and decision making.

Why doesn't JVR ever lead? Petracca goes down there in Q3, leads and gets a free. JVR waits at the back of the pack, waiting for the big bomb, which he never marks ( he's a two-grabber). Turner leads occasionally, but JVR.....

Genuine question, who should we be looking at to replace him? Longmire?

[CENSORED} KICKING

why are we so [CENSORED} BAD?

when i resort to caps you know i'm mad

Our players are 4 years older from our premiership.  We haven't been bringing in the youngsters or mid range 20 year olds.

Instead we've tried to rebuild with hunter, billings& McAdam.

That what Stevie j said on mmm. Said our forwards just stand there & no one moves to create anything. Also they huddle together.

Hopefully this doesn't blow out

Tom Hawkins said the same thing, everyone can see it but the coaches, midfield is one paced have said it for the last couple of seasons being shown up again.

They’re unmarked because we are rightly running forward when one of our players kicks it directly to the opposition. Then all of our players are caught offside.. easiest goals in the world

He can’t kick it for them

Forwardline entry is bad as usual but the positioning of our forwards is actually even worse. Big men not leading and unable to halve contests when required. Small forwards not getting to the drop at all. W'e're making a key defensive group that includes Toby Pink and Aiden Corr look good.

I have not seen one forward lead from a Melbourne Player.

Must be hard when they do lead and the lead is never honoured. We just love coming it in.

I thought that moving Rivers into the midfield might improve this but he is still finding his feet in the role.

On top of all the [censored] after 2021. Our recruitment of FA has been putrid.

Probably the worst from a premiership fancy in recent history.

Our drafting has been phenomenal, just imagine where would we be if the club was able to attract a McKay, Lynch or similar.A graders.

I'd switch Rooh down back for Petty

I know our fwd line is non existent but this is not a good idea.

In fact it sums up what has been wrong with this chub for three years.

No forward line and no desire or effort to resolve it. As evidenced last year moving Petty up fwd. Didn't work then and won't work now. I understand why you mention it but it won't change anything.

The club has been relying on our backline year after year to win games.

Problem is and I'll type it slowly so the boffins at the club can read it , back lines don't kick winning scores.

Where's the replacement for Hogan? Grundy, Joel Smith, Tmac, Jackson? Nah let's just not worry about it. Let's even move Jvr to play in the middle instead of finding a decent support for Max.

As bad as our skills have been today, the club has to accept responsibility on not having the cattle so we can drop a few of the offenders out there . They have been equally as bad.

We might find out if we lose 4 or 5 of the next 6 games.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
