Sure.

The Ruby Demons is the official LGBTIQA+ supporter group of the Melbourne Football Club. There is simply no excuse for what has happened this week regarding homophobic language in our sport. We offer our unconditional love and support to our friends and colleagues a the Rainbow Crows and Collingwood Pride for what must have been an emotionally draining experience. We condemn any form of homophobic language, and we commend the decision made by the AFL in issuing a sanction.

Over the past two seasons the AFL ha been continually rocked by similar incidents, despite the League making it very clear that such langage will not be tolerated. To see numerous incidents in 2025 is frustrating and disappointing, given the extensive awareness and education made available to those in the AFL community at all levels, including supporters, staff, officials, players and sponsors.

The media attention this week has been both pleasing and disappointing, given the timing and the effect on finals. A number of articles have been written giving an insightful persopective on the effects of homophobic language in our game to those in the LGBTIQA+ community. Marnie Vinall's article in particular is compelling reading for anyone who seeks to understand this impact.

We are fortunate at the Ruby Demons to have the support of players like Tom Campbell, who is active through the AFL Players Association and Stand Up Events, an education program for schools and sporting bodies to stamp out homophobia in community settings. We urge all interested parties to investigate this program to help eliminate homophobia in our sport.

So in spite of all that the AFL are supporting an overseas artist who is clearly making Homophobic comments! Hope the groups you indicated are voicing concerns, via the AFL!?

We absolutely are, we're advocating for the AFL to cancel the contract with Snoop Dogg.

I had some sympathy for Rankine in terms of severity of sanction. Missing finals is a big deal.

however given he is a recidivist and has not learned his lesson, he has absolutely no one to blame but himself.

What a fool he is. If i was a teammate I'd be ropeable

TBH I would prefer Meatloaf

As a proud gay person, and AFL fan, I would do anything for love - but I wonโ€™t do that.

And Iโ€™d be even more ropable that heโ€™s taken off to Europe without even a word of explanation to his teammates. He shouldโ€™ve been made to stay and face what may come, for both his teammates and the fans. Itโ€™s not like they donโ€™t have a finals campaign to begin.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
