Sure.

The Ruby Demons is the official LGBTIQA+ supporter group of the Melbourne Football Club. There is simply no excuse for what has happened this week regarding homophobic language in our sport. We offer our unconditional love and support to our friends and colleagues a the Rainbow Crows and Collingwood Pride for what must have been an emotionally draining experience. We condemn any form of homophobic language, and we commend the decision made by the AFL in issuing a sanction.

Over the past two seasons the AFL ha been continually rocked by similar incidents, despite the League making it very clear that such langage will not be tolerated. To see numerous incidents in 2025 is frustrating and disappointing, given the extensive awareness and education made available to those in the AFL community at all levels, including supporters, staff, officials, players and sponsors.

The media attention this week has been both pleasing and disappointing, given the timing and the effect on finals. A number of articles have been written giving an insightful persopective on the effects of homophobic language in our game to those in the LGBTIQA+ community. Marnie Vinall's article in particular is compelling reading for anyone who seeks to understand this impact.

We are fortunate at the Ruby Demons to have the support of players like Tom Campbell, who is active through the AFL Players Association and Stand Up Events, an education program for schools and sporting bodies to stamp out homophobia in community settings. We urge all interested parties to investigate this program to help eliminate homophobia in our sport.

So in spite of all that the AFL are supporting an overseas artist who is clearly making Homophobic comments! Hope the groups you indicated are voicing concerns, via the AFL!?

We absolutely are, we're advocating for the AFL to cancel the contract with Snoop Dogg.

I had some sympathy for Rankine in terms of severity of sanction. Missing finals is a big deal.

however given he is a recidivist and has not learned his lesson, he has absolutely no one to blame but himself.

What a fool he is. If i was a teammate I'd be ropeable

And Iโ€™d be even more ropable that heโ€™s taken off to Europe without even a word of explanation to his teammates. He shouldโ€™ve been made to stay and face what may come, for both his teammates and the fans. Itโ€™s not like they donโ€™t have a finals campaign to begin.

It's no surprise the two of them are best mates. I know they did play together when they were at North, just a shame Ben was retiring as Tom came in.

They signed up Tom on the day of the Best and Fairest last year. Leading up to that night, we were discussing which male player could we call upon to play a similar role to work with us like Ben did, and on the night of the best and fairest, both Ben and Hester came up to me really excited to tell me about Tom. It was really lovely the way Tom has embraced us and worked with us, in much the same way Ben and Hester did. These pics are from one of my favourite footy moments of this year. Tom, Ben and Hester are seriously the best.

How many weeks do we think de goey gets for his shoulder to the jaw in the 3rd??

Haha just kidding MRO is Collingwood, 0 weeks, Adelaide forced to issue apology for chinning his shoulder

Jeff Gleeson - chair of the AFL tribunal. 35 year magpie member and coterie group.

Michael Christian. MRO. Former Collingwood player.

DEGOEY shoulder hits Worrall in the head. Accidental. High. Low impact.

Apology issued to DEGOEY for any bruising to his shoulder.

AFL is a joke. A circus. A comedy act. Dillon makes his big decision. Snoop Dogg. Umpiring is a disgrace.

Have these mugs ever convicted, or helped to convict a Collingwood player?

With three minutes to go we had our first not 15 metres and then holding the ball against Collingwood by one of the maggots. It was either by "precious" or the "beatnik"

May holds his ground and receives a 3 week penalty

So what does De Goey get when his action could easily be seen as deliberate?

0 weeks for De Goey. Pies rarely get suspended and never in finals in the WWE era - only Houston this year and that would be loading from when he was at Port.

Can I ask, why do Pies players always get interviewed by the broadcaster after an 'incident' in a final?Channel 7 went straight to De Goey and asked about the incident. He had a pre-prepared defence ...something about a smother...despite the vision showing nothing of the sort...very similar to Maynard. It's almost like it is planned by the club in kahootz with the broadcaster.

The AFL try and apply civil law procedures, legalese and principles to their Tribunal/MRO these days, but create bias by allowing discussion of the topic in the media, which creates bias. It's one of the biggest jokes.

No they don't. If a judge discovers they are a relative (or a friend) of the accused, they recuse themselves from the case. The AFL instead apppoints 'relatives' (especially of a certain club) as judges.

And 18.6 is the average fines per club. Collingwood only got 7.

There is literally a 24/7 defence of DeGoey on SEN. At this rate they wonโ€™t even need to goto the MRO for a decision. Itโ€™s been precast.

This media defence of Degoey is a joke, all year David King has been so hard on any player contacting the head and then last night after the game did a complete backflip..the football media are just rubbish really..

Would normally be a week without question

AFL make it up as they go along so the finals rule will mean he gets off

That's why Lyon, Buckley and Jordan Lewis are the three with any brains that tolerate, visible stupidity and bias.

Pies are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for the AFL and media. That explains everything.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
