We would be a better team with Jackson, so I am confident a new Coach would drive it if it was possible.

I wonder if Buckley has changed his view on ruckmen...

There's just no way Freo will entertain a trade with what we would be offering. Kozzy was our only pathway to even starting the conversation.

Jackson was the 11th highest rated player in the comp this year (just behind Nasiah).

He's 24 yrs right in his prime, coming off his best year. He will continue to get better. Skies the limit with this kid.

Move on.

Yeh we do not have the collateral as far as i see it (at present)

Get him back! He would completely change the outlook for us.

We'd all love him back but genuinely ask yourself what do we have to give? we have absolutely no way of getting him over the line even with being able to trade 2 years into the future we simply cant afford it.

What if Tracc was traded to the Hawks and we got their Blues pick plus more and that was the start of the trade price.

I can’t see a world where it doesn’t get done for at least 3 firsts or 2 and a player so maybe. Dogga would make such a difference, would allow max to play at least 3 more years and kalani to develop with no pressure at all.

Jackson still wants to get back to the MFC. Immense difficulties with it occurring, diluted by the fact that there is an incoming coach who (obviously) isn't Goodwin.

Any coach not wanting Dogga is crazy, making it happen on the other hand is also probably crazy.

Still i would love to see it

Well if Curnow can get out, so should Dogga (if that's his wish).

Afford it as in salary cap?

Deals can be done, if Jacko nominate us it will happen.

The salary cap is less of an issue than having nothing to satisfy Freo with in a trade.

Kosi was the ace, now he's staying put (thank god), you would need 3 first round picks, or 2 and a good quality player.

If we trade say Trac to Hawthorn for their 1st round pick tied to Carlton, we would need to find another first round pick, or give up a future 1st and a good player, say McVee or Rivers.

It seems very unlikely Freo will let Jackson go, unless he's telling them that he HAS to get back to Melbourne. He would need to really force their hand. Otherwise they'll tell him to jump, literally.

If a player wants to move, there is always a price both will accept. Though more clubs like us are holding players to their contracts. (So they should). Though they have Darcy for the primary ruck role, who is only 27, teenager in ruck years.

The question will the it prove be too high. My case study is the movement of Kelly. It 2 first and 2 second round picks. The long term impact it had of taking away more young talent in those drafts that we are seeing the impact of today.

While I believe that Jackson is a far better player than Kelly (Great player when not the first mid, he excelled with those ahead of him were the focus of opposition , freeing him up )

It would be a great coup if we can get him, this year or next.

Ahhh... just twigged to this

Luke Jackson would really have to force this move if its to happen

and if he does force, he'll have to categorically state that he wants to get to us.

but other clubs could offer better deals to Freo so if its a choice between moving or not i reckon he'll go to different club

would be great if it happened but i give it about a 1% chance of happening. very highly unlikely

So you’re saying there’s a chance

I think with Goodwin gone it takes away from his desire to go to MFC only, and opens it up to other Victorian clubs. It's gone from MFC or bust to being open to other clubs, like Geelong.

I remember it being reported that he had a trigger he was going to hit this year for an automatic two year extension too. Makes it very hard for any trade to get done regardless.

If anything I suspect he stays at Fremantle and they give him more leeway to spend time in Victoria like we've done with Kozzie and WA.

Jackson would choose Melbourne for the team mates not the coach

What a complete and utter waste of human energy this thread is. Infantile and stupid.

Bailey Smith moved for pick 18 and 37

We could work with something around that mark

I have often found the term "literally" to be somewhat ambiguous, inviting misuse.
