the point is often missed that not only is gawn the best ruckmen in the game, but he's also one of the better midfielders

he runs around the ground collecting marks and possessions seemingly at will

I reckon he's upped his pressure game the last few weeks too, I've noticed him doing repeat efforts/tackles/pressure acts which as a mid-30s ruckman is phenomenal (and shows up some of his younger/more athletically gifted teammates).

So Jackson saying he wants to stay in Freo is a non-core promise?

We certainly can trade our '26 and '27 first round picks at the end of the year.

The original deal was effectively pick 13, future first, future 2nd and pick swaps.

In a way, we get Jackson and Windsor for 3 first rounders. I'd take that deal any year.

4 first rounders if you include the pick we originally used on Jackson in 2019.

Diplomacy. If he wants to come back, it will happen

If player salaries keep rising under the new salary cap is it possible that Jackson's contract could drop out of the top 25% at Freo, changing him to a possible free agent at the end of 2029?

SHENANIGANS ENSUE.

I assume Max will hand over the captaincy to Langford after the 2028 premiership, and play out a couple more years as a tall defender/ruck. It'll be fun to see Gawn/Jackson back together for 2030.

The beauty of this post is it will he either totally forgotten or be the most brilliant foresight in the history of football predictions.

Losing Jackson arguably cost us the 2023 flag.

You might as well argue that our inability to clone Robert Flower cost us premierships from 1988 onwards.

Such a furphy. He changed his mind went to an election with the policy and won the election. Unlike some others....

He’s a politician. Lying and broken promises are part of the job description.

We wouldn’t trade m

Politics not allowed here but since you riposted

You are right but

The Rodent at least took his broken promise to an election and put it on the line and was re elected

Make him the number 1 ruck is my guess. It feels to me like Luke's coming and Kozzie is going. I hope I'm wrong on Kozzie, he's the heartbeat of our team atm.

This was it

Ralphy essentially saying that the key to Freo keeping him is allowing him to play the #1 ruck role (although blind Freddy could tell you that’s how you get the most out of him)

Who's willing to take one for the team and pay the Murdoch press to read this?

Nice work Goody! Stick it right up Freo

Brad Green is showing the club it's OK to have some balls

  • funny enough the media knobs don't like it and think Green's tweets are ridiculous. Sorry for pointing out how incorrect and full of it you guys are!

Correct weight!

Pretty much what’s been said already. Except makes a point to mention that the position he plays (ie make me number 1 ruck) has more of an influence on his decision than the family issues. Also that Sean Darcy is on 700k which is honestly less than I thought.

The dude clearly doesn’t think very well because I’m sure when he came to the club he was told he would be second to Darcy. I wonder if he wants to be Ruck or just around the ball more. Surprised they didn’t play him more as a midfielder when Darcy wasn’t injured.

Howard's "Not a core promise" is like Trump's "Alternative Facts". They're another way of saying "lies".

I think that's the part that made it stick in people's minds. Everyone understands that even the most honest and forthright politician will change their plans under new circumstances or pressures. But to then act like people are being unreasonable to call out a deception will mark you forever.

I think it is actually similar to the 'recession we had to have' in the sense that it was almost mocking people for having believed the previous good times talk-ups.

In contrast, Bob Hawke is looked at with some moderate affection because there was always a sense that he was genuinely disappointed when he couldn't follow through on a claim.

So the equivalent for Jackson would be, let's say the trade happens, this time next year Jackson starts saying to Freo supporters that they are immature for resenting it because it was always obvious he was leaving.

I remember Rick Lever was never leaving until he did. Our recruiters knew he was on his way to us half way through that season.

so did the teams involved, and the players playing for them

it's why it would seem obvious that kozi and dog will be switching representation in 2026; there's too much smoke for there not to be fire

We've allegedly put another long term deal in front of Kozzy, so let's see how this plays out in the next few weeks.

It wasn’t losing Jackson that killed us, it was wasting that pick on Jefferson.

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
