funny thing is... is he even in the best back 7 for flagmantle, which already looks seriously good?

all these guys played 17 or more games in 2025 - clark, ryan, cox, chapman, worner, banfield, wagner, and pearce just misses out with 16 times hitting the field

who does mcvee get in ahead of? wagner, who moves onto a defensive wing position?

Banfield easily. Seems like a stop gap in whatever position. Was playing forward a while ago. Then was on the wing last year. He's not a realy defender.

Wagner has already moved to the midfield/wing/tagging role.

If I'm Melbourne I'm asking questions of Cooper Simpson who was playing that running half back role before getting injured earlier this year. Or Brandon Walker who has been pushed out but is really good lockdown on smalls.

Also I am just going to say it! He cost us that final against Carlton!

Hows the ego and arrogance of some so called insiders here who believe they have such special relationships with players that they are going to tell them exactly what their plans are for the future, which includes, where they will live, their remuneration and job description. A sucker born every day.

Anyone with smarts knew he was gone by July and a tough Club would not have played him beyond then. Pathetic

11 and 47 for Judd and 23?

Most clubs seem content on trading out of the first round this year. Getting a best 23 player while keeping an early second rounder may appeal?

Or perhaps more likely is we get 29 and a future 2nd with a 3rd rounder going back their way.

I don't know. Losing Judd sucks and it's unlikely we're going to get fair value.

He is off, who cares why as long as its not a culture reason. Its all about what we can get. Nothing else matters now.

Not sure he wants to be a midfielder. He wants to play an attacking role. Doesn’t want to defend hard. Doesn’t want to play last line of defense.

It actually annoys me how hard Howes had to work to get senior games down back this year, while McVee had such a poor year and was never once dropped.

Surely, King pitched him an attacking half back role though? That's my point.

And because we've no exposed form for a King-coached team, the sell is potentially harder.

Don't get me wrong though. I'm excited for King.

He and has management have clearly taken Melbourne for a ride as leverage to get a strong deal from Freo. This seems certain given he didn't mention wanting a trade at exit interviews. Yes he may well have been waiting for King and that might have played a role if he isn't getting what he wanted, but he didn't know Goodwin would be sacked. So the narrative that he was waiting to see who the coach would be doesn't align for mine. He was always leaving.

If we can get something ok for him that's a win, this is a po0sition we have a plethora of players in:

Salem, Bowey, Howes, Windsor, Lindsay, AMW.

I think this is a loss we will end up doing ok out of, as long as we don't get bent over in the trade.

I know you were passing info in good faith and believed what you were told.

Anyone who piles on doesn’t deserve to ever come here again looking for info.

I’m sorry Judd lied to you. You deserve much better than that!

Rubbish

So I hope my faith in AMW comes to fruition, because he has to be the next cab in line to play the McVee role or is that Howes' now?

Not a glowing endorsement of King either.

Not a glowing endorsement of King??? Wtf are you talking about?

A v ordinary HBF is about to exit and you’re blaming King???

Not really. None of those guys are lockdown defenders. Judd had the ability to win 1v1s and then slingshot. Bowey and Salem maybe, but it'd be nice to have the option of playing Bowey or Salem at half forward. That's much harder now.

Maybe King doesn’t think Judd is good enough to play an attacking half back role? Maybe he thinks Judd is better as a deep defender. Who knows really.

Maybe he just said I will take your wishes on board, but bottom line we play a team sport and you need to play whatever role we need you to play each week.

At the end of the day a player so clearly embedded in your best 22, leaving on grounds of wanting to play a slightly different role, is a total load of BS and an excuse. I’m not buying it.

Next year is weak as well

Next year is projecting to be a heap better than this year. Pick 29 may as well be pick 55 this year. If we can do a deal for 11, would much rather a future 2nd.

If Freo are poaching him, they need to pay up. It’s on them to get the deal done.

Starting to look like a discount brand Tom Scully situation.

Miserable experience and disruptive to the club, but in the end he is not a crucial player.

I'd still be happy if it turned out Cal Twomey had it wrong.

I suspect a Jeremy Howe style mirage would strike him, where he thinks he is going to fill Fyfe's role, but actually replaces Aish.

I'd probably agree. Judd is the closest thing we have to Quaynor IMO.

We are better off if uncommitted players move on.

It's no good for culture to keep them around.

What part of that is 'rubbish? People should have a go at others? You don't believe GW was passing on info in good faith? She lied to us? You are not sorry she was lied to? And your earlier post about ego and arrogance - rubbish there for sure. Have a good look at yourself.

So we lost a young defender & have told May to look elsewhere …. All is left for this miserable season is for Trac to request a trade …whilst we see lions winning back to back flags and the brotherhood Fagan talks about

Spewing with his decision. He’s the right age bracket and skill set of players we need more of so losing him hurts us.

No chance we get pick 13 but hoping we get more than just pick 29. We will have a decent hand of second round picks and might be able to get GC to part with pick 6.

Sad as it is...I'm more disappointed by the deception.

But I bet you love coming here and reading the info.

If you don’t, block the posters or go away.

Having a go at supporters who pass along info they get in good faith is what’s pathetic. The posters who suggested Judd will stay all have very solid track record with info and have put their necks out several times against the tide. Famously on Kosi staying put!

It’s part of what makes Demonland so good, even if the info occasionally doesn’t stack up.

If journalists can flat out lie to us, you have a problem with a few posters occasionally getting some solid info wrong?

Edit: not surprised one bit by the poster who liked your post. The worst of the lot when it comes to contributing nothing but their deluded ego to this site, and who continuously shows his misogynistic ways with the posters he looks down on and dismisses.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
