Well we have the X factor in his name. Hope he plays that way

Ok so Larke medallist with 5 and Morrish medallist with 9 (was also clear Bog in the vic v vic game)

got 2 kids that can seriously play

missed out on some X factor with the Viking but but can’t complain with 2 blokes we’ve got - should be solid citizens for 10+ years those 2

Really interesting that both our draft picks so far are great kicks. With Windsor last year, it seems our "best available" philosophy comes with a qualification about good foot skills.

Possible that we have transformed our play around the ground in two drafts;

Windsor, Tholstrup, Langford and Lindsay.

Really looking forward to seeing them have a bit of fun while still shielded a bit by the powerful bodies of Viney, Trac and Oliver.

Well with these two picks

plus Rivers , Sparrow. Windsor and Kolt

we have a quality midfield when Viney Oliver  and Petracca decide to retire or move elsewhere.

Wow, Richmond have passed on Bo Allen.

Surely WC select him with their next pick.

Really interested to see how these two selections sit in our best 23, and the flow on effects to those that are there.

Obviously, Lindsay allows Rivers to play permanent midfield if we want, it also enables us to potentially try McVee through the midfield, but I think it just gives us another kicker back there, which is handy.

As for Langford, not only does he walk into our midfield IMO, he becomes really dangerous as a forward option alongside Trac and Fritta, those mid sized mobile forwards.

I'm still fingers crossed for Riak Andrew too, so we can add another versatile tall to the back half, and follow it up next year with Kalani White as second ruck/forward.

I still think we're a little light in the small forward department, but I hear we're looking at one with a later pick.

The one that kept saying yeah nah. But they're young kids out of school. They'll be ok next year. I mean look at Clayton Oliver.  He's not exactly a great speaker

I'm getting old and enjoy a drink but is it really necessary to have  alcohol and people drinking at an afl draft. Not a great look imho

Not sure of your point. what’s wrong with adults having a beer at the function?

Ha, my wife thought it was weird seeing some of the young boys drinking at the draft.  Not he AFL squeaky image  :)

Absolute steal from West Coast to get Bo Allan. Round 1 is possible, and Freo will be spewing.

Dockers got a good one

Armstrong continues to slide. A real surprise considering he was in talks to be our pick 5 about a month ago.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
