Be worth a punt at Melbourne and would come without a large trade loss.

No... No and No.

Seriously a talk back caller in Canberra recently called in and said that for the NRL team here, they could build their training facility inside the new prison they were building - that was quite funny (that's because I don't barrack for them).

Cousins coming to Melbourne would be ..... it just won't happen. For further reference Look at the Pres' comments.

it has merit but 1st i dont think cousins would want to play at a club in melbourne, except for possibly geelong. 2nd as said i dont think gardiner would want him

You're right Gardiner wouldn't want him - he has settled into his new life at St Kilda well.......oh, that Gardiner....sorry!

Seriously, he would be worth a punt if you could get him cheaply enough - whatever we all think of him on a personal level, you can't deny he is a champion footballer.......

I would love to have Cousins at Melbourne, we'd be able to pick him up alot cheaper than Judd but he would be a wonderful addition to our midfield.

A 29-year-old reformed (?) drug addict with a penchant for hard partying, no ethical standards whatsoever and a dubious past when it comes to the criminal element?

Why on earth would we want that?

Because he is a bloody good footballer.

I'm not saying that I would necessarily want him, but there are a lot of positives that go with his negatives.

I think it would be shameful of West Coast to even consider letting him go as a cheap trade.

They let his mess pile up, they were his club when he got into trouble they should be his club as he gets out of it.

Cousins has to take responsibility for his actions as an individual and claw his way back to respect, but West Coast have to stand by him. That's the deal between player and club, and it would be many years before I'd respect West Coast again if they don't stick by him now.

Besides, with Judd leaving to the Demons ;) they'll be needing a star midfielder.

A premiership, something that Melbourne has never achieved will I've been alive.

Our time to shine is when the guys like McLean etc reach their peak - I imagine we'd need to compromise that future to get Cousins, who may only have three good seasons left in him.

I guess it depends where you think our list is at, but I'd rather we draft unless the price was pretty low.

i would rather eat a turd sandwich than have that [censored] at my club. my wife is originally from perth where she was good friends with his first cousin and most of ben's family can't stand him!! no way cousins should be in prison anyway

Judd over Cousins...we wouldn't want Cousins..cos he's 29....we don't know if he';s going to even get back yet..and play good footy for that matter

i want to see us put a real effort to snare the juddernaut

I'm amazed at everyone's stance on Cousins, considering a couple of years ago we traded to get another good player who has had just as bad off field incidents as him.

Bzzzzzt.

Nothing we've seen AFL footy so far is as antisocial or body and mind destroying as an Ice addiction.

i dunno, i mean bizzell took his hair a bit seriously down at geelong, but is that really as bad as cousins?

So was Pickett a raging success? Did he overcome all his past issues? Did he lead us to a premiership?

No, No and No. That wasn't the point of my post though. The point was were was the outrage of getting Pickett considering his off field behavoir, why are we suddenly claiming the morale high ground?

But I suppose you're right, we should just hang on to players like Bruce, Holland, Godfrey, Jamar, Yze, Miller, Ferguson, Ward, Brown and Carroll, we're sure to eventually win a GF with these types of players.

You're joking.

Ice addiction has the potential to harm themselves - true, but driving while completely drunk has the potential to kill other completely innocent people, very [censored] easily. While you're up their claiming the morale high ground why don't you compare the amount of deaths attributed to drink driving idiots to ice influenced murders this country sees every single year.

There is damaged goods, and there is really damaged goods. I'm wary of the former, and positively frightened by the latter. Do you think Cousins went to the USA for his addiction to Tim Tams or something? :)

Now you're being silly. You know full well that a player like Cousins is not the only alternative to these guys.

And if it came down to Cousins or Bruce, I know for certain which is the option worth taking and which would be the better (and more moral) player to have around the club.

I'm not on the moral high ground at all, my reason for not wanting Cousins has nothing to do with morals. Driving while drunk, however, does not have anywhere near as much potential to damage their on field performance as a chronic Ice addiction would. You only need to watch footage of Cousins' preseason training to see how unfit he was.

Ice is one of the most difficult addictions to break, much more difficult than a typical alcohol addiction, and does a heck of a lot more SELF damage (that's all I'm interested in) in the short and long term.

Tell me why Cousins ran away from his car and the booze bus again?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
