Welcome to Demonland: Harry Sharp

The irony is Fullarton would probably get a game for the premiers next year if he was still there

Daniher was their most important player. Now they have Hipwood as their main target

Just get the feeling he's going to play on a wing and Langdon might move into the ANB high half forward role

Or Langdon and him on the wing, and Windsor more through the middle of the ground?

Welcome aboard Harry Sharp glad that you chose the Dees looking forward to seeing your extra pace out on the G once you have earned your spurs. Four years in the Lions system so should fit in well with our young brigade.

I'd love to try Caleb at half back too. In a quarterback role.

Quarterback?

This is not the USA

Surely he would have chosen a destination club?!

man what a cheesy pun from MFC

Clearly right at hone here on D'Land?

Other than running the 2km in a record time what are his other attributes, does he have a big kick or smart he user of the ball or does he tackle and harass like a mad man

Is sharp quick? Or just big tank?

I know he has the record for the 2km but not sure what that says about explosive and short distance sprinting ahha

Can he actually get the ball? It’s fairly important in footy !

On ya, Dingo.

The industry has used the term quarterback for quite a while now...

The Club's just got to get Kelli 'Mozzie Kozzie' Underwood into its media team now.

I wonder if he could get a game straight away. They might be a bit shy in playing 2 kids straight away. McAdam is also a chance of getting in the team.

Interesting idea.

If it pans out that way, would perhaps explain langers spending a big chunk of the second half of the season at HFF given they would have known nibbla was leaving.

Welcome to the Demons Harry Sharp!

Great to hear he is a super fit running machine.

Hopefully we focuses on improving his kicking during the Pre-Season too.

I thought he played wing most of the second half of the year and started rhe year at half forward? I could be misremebering, but that's my memory of a season to forget.

He's got the hair to hold his own with Ed and Caleb.

VFL stats show he was consistent through the year without starring particularly in any certain game.  His stats show a higher kick to handball ratio, offer relating his more outside run and carry role.  Sounds good to provide another link type player. Pick 54 is enough in exchange for Sharp.

Great news…welcome aboard Harry 👏👏👏

He’s the type of player needed and type of trade (22yo, 4 years in system) that can come in straight away and still improve and improve.
Elite endurance.  Run and carry and kick type of player.  Can play the ANB type role.  Been behind some high quality players at Lions. Move to the Dees should give him the opportunities he needs.

Played half forward against Carlton and a few other teams about 1/3rd of the way in to the year.

Played wing in the second half of the year when Nibbler was often needed on ball.

I hope we have more freedom and flexibility through games and week to week based on match ups. And can see Sharp, Kolt, Chandler and maybe others on the wing. In addition to Langdon and Windsor of course.

If Sharp can mature and develop into the ANB mold, then I think we've done well out of trading ANB to the Crows.  Although I always saw early glimpses of potential in ANB, he didn't really start hitting his straps as an AFL footballer consistently until he had around 4 or 5 seasons under his belt.  Alot of that development work has been done with Sharp and if he can make the grade, then I like that we're continuing to rejuvenate the age profile of our list, without bottoming out and/or ending up with a glut of aging starts that would set us up for a big fall in the future.

So he can run a 2K with a split of 2:45

i didn’t know that was physically possible

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
