Appart from being massive unders, would surely test their salary cap.

I suspect that 1 first round pick will be for the draft and the other used in a trade ... we will see ...

Not sure why the Hawks want to trade out of this years first round

Seems like a strange move unless linked to trades

Bingo.

Hawks send F1 + change to WC for Barrass.

WC F1 + change to Richmond for Baker.

I think the Eagles will want the Carlton first rounder (not the Hawks one) and more. Honestly it’s the perfect deal to change the rules and let the Eagles get the best of the 2 first rounders (Carl or Hawks) next year but the afl rules don’t allow that.

Eagles would be mad to offer their own first but they’ll on send the Carl/Haw first rounder for Baker.

It’s smart from the Hawks. They didn’t want to offer more than 14. Can now offer a future first and future 2nd. It’s worth the same thing but reads better!

Honestly a little surprised we didn’t jump at that. Must be either more up in the air with other deals or a degree of confidence that we can do better. Let’s hope so

That pick 9 looks very attractive

I agree, but the Hawks chucking a future first in the Eagles/Richmond pot diminishes the likelihood Freo or Richmond end up trading one out. It might be 9 or bust

Don't mind that. Get a couple of quality youngsters in what is considered to be a good draft to alongside Windsor and Kolt from last year. That's a good injection of young talent with hopefully Jefferson also debuting next year.

If Sydney get pick 13 it means we can then go after pick 19 or 22. Either way we should be improving our draft hand this year.

Melbourne is giving GC something to think about on pick 13.
The Demons have offered a future 1st rounder + pick 28.

I’m not sure about this.  Would like GC 13 & 41 picks for Dees future 1st rounder + pick 28.

What to do with pick 13 …

1/ used as late bid for Houston or

2/ after academy and Ashcroft picks, it’s likely to be pick “16” to be used for a youngster like Joe Berry, Ali’s Tauru or Taj Hotton or Cooper Hynes. (🤞but I think Xavier Lindsay will be gone at this pick)

Get pick 13 from GC

Added bonus of screwing up the Pies plans

Trade 13 + something for the bombers pick 9

Go to draft with 5 and 9

Nail them are we are back baby!

Sydney's offer could be attractive - 19 to cover a Lombard bid and 22 to use in the draft.

Clearly don't understand all the permutations... but I would have thought that giving up our future 1st limits our ability to get pick 9 from the bombers?

Maybe the saints are confident they will be able to trump our offer for it - the bombers might have already told us this?

Otherwise why would we do this now when it seems like we are in the box seat to get 9 if we (or someone else) bids on Kako?  What am I missing?

You'd have to think either the Dons have told us to bugger off and/or they have a better offer elsewhere, so we've turned our attention to 13

The Bombers will either want to get ahead of the bid for Kako, or push 9 into a 2025 f1 pick. Getting 13 doesn't help them

If I’m the Dons I’m inclined to call our bluff and see if we pick Kako at 5 (6). Could happen, but I’d say odds on it doesn’t.

They probably have to flick St Kilda something to get 9 to 8 or guarantee a non Saints bid.

You don’t match a bid for Lombard with a premium pick of 19, you do it with junk in the 30’s and 40’s.

If they took the Swans deal they’d probably trade both those picks in different deals.

Not if they value players in the top 25 or so this year they won't.

True... but if you know the Don's list you know they're crying out for a small forward - so they need him.  I think they want to ensure they get him and another 1st round pick (whether that be this year or next it doesn't really matter).  I guess the saints may be more attractive - who would they see as more likely to jump up the ladder next year out of us or them?

I don’t think they’re going to have a live pick in the draft. Match Lombard and that’s it. Even still, paying with peanuts and trading back in is a better option.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
