Easily done.Ā  The club knows how many times the card/phone was scanned for each membership.Ā  Just refuse to renew their membership if too low.Ā  They may well have other interests or family duties preventing attendance but are renewing out of loyalty.Ā  So win-win if MFC knock them back.Ā

If I’m interpreting what you are saying correctly, that’s a very hasty, narrow minded, ill informed, ignorant, and dare I say it, hurtful comment. Ā  Ā  Ā
I’m a 45+ year premium member who lives interstate. Ā I pay a large sum of money each year, for my myself and my ā€˜one eyed’ Demon family members, as a pledge of loyalty and financial support for the Club l love, and have barracked for since the 1950s. Ā  Ā
We travel to as many games as I can each year, but I admit that it’s probably less than 20% of games! Ā  Ā
After the loyalty and support I’ve shown to our Club, I’m astounded that you would suggest that me and my family to be denied membership in 2025 and beyond!

ā€œWin-win if the MFC knocks them backā€? Ā  I don’t get it! Ā
I doubtĀ the MFC would either.

PS. Ā I unreservedly apologise if I have completely misinterpreted your post!

I'm not against an external review

but don't kid yourselves the external "independent" reviews are the be all and end.

the terms of reference (which you will probably never know) are absolutely key here

most organisations who open themselves up to a review like to carefully curate the process, set the limits and importantly pay the reviewer who operates under conditions of privacy including the findings.

we've all seen plenty of political reviews/inquiries/whatever where the end result was predetermined or at least managed.

so, have a review but don't get your expectationsĀ unrealistically high

We had the external review by one of the big 4 consultants back when Cam Schwab was in charge in 2012? While the club was totally imploding that was obvious to everyone, the review, according to Cam came up with very little, apparently. Well that’s according to Cam who never released the report nor did he do jack**** about any of its findings. If we have a review, its findings must be made public.Ā

That’s perfectly sensible!

I was curious as to what Jones’s said in full in that SEN interview so here it is:

Timmeh Watson:

ā€˜Would you, being a past player, and having an acute understanding of the way the club works, and you obviously weee teammates with a lot of these guys in the time you played, would favour the club having an external review of its culture?’

Ā

Jones:

ā€˜ahhh yeah I reckon I would Tim, to be honest. I think umm, I felt frustrated particularaly for the senior players over the last 12-18 months from a PR and narrative point of view. It’s been frustrating and some may let those senior boys down to a certain degree, so I think that would be worthwhile if there’s nothing to hide I think it would be beneficial.

I think particularly from a public perspective, that the advantages in doing that, but ultimately mate that will be a decision that comes from people far higher and much more important than me.
Ā

It’s nice to have see Tracc come out and commit and hopefully even off the back of this, whatever side of the fence you live on, hopefully it will instigate some change and Melbourne can kind of, re-direct and start flying straight again and hopefully be back in contention for next season.’

And rid elements that could cause the club and board to lose focus on being the best we can be in 2025.

That's fine. Like the Trac stuff should have been, the results of the external review should be kept in house...

Get Jordan Lewis & Nathan Jones to talk to everyone involved, look at communication, game plan, list management, recruitment, player development, fitness, etc & produce a 2 page report with recommendations. Should take about 2 weeks.

Communications with members, and in general, have been very poor and will be one of the main areas the review will cover. There will need to be some level of transparency around the results of the review otherwise how can we have confidence it has been conducted properly. That doesn't mean people get machine gunned but i expect high level recommendations and plan to implement are made public.

And besides, results will probably be leaked anyways. Get on the front foot if nothing else.

Solved! Does the 2 pages include a cover page?

Comfortable in the knowledge now that future premiership success awaits!

Absolutely spot on Sir

Its going to be a real cluster May be better for the club to preempt the outcome with a proper review

No offence taken by me if applicable. Your offence is regretted and unexpected colateral damage.

I was ridiculing those who think that they can persuade members to attend by slagging off at themĀ  That only works if they have something to cow them with.

My post was intended to be ironic by taking the action against those not attending matches, up a couple of notches.

We have just had our dirty laundry aired out in the public eye for the last 3 months, and you want an external review containing all our flaws send to McClure and Morris for more punishment??

The Andrews report in 2011? Yeah that's still buried in the backyard somewhere..Ā

Morris suggested on SEN that there might be some casualties in the football department.

When Cornes asked if Goodwin was safe, Morris wouldn't 100% commit to the idea but that his 2 years on his contract will save him.

Tells me that while Goodwin is safe for next year, he needs to have a much better year if he wants to see out 2026.

Ā

If the outcome of the review is to overhaul the football dept and surround Goodwin with fresh people and we rock up next year with all the same problems then he will be gone pretty quickly I would think.

Only way he goes is if the review turns up some massive red flag that makes his job untenable. I doubt that happens.

I have no idea how we don't ruin our soft cap if we want to make multiple changes to the FD. Everyone is contracted as far as I can tell.

Morris also said that Shand would run the 'external' review in conjunction with Pert and Green. Also stated that the Football Dept is the focus.Ā

Not quite the whole of club, external review I was hoping for and that is required.

Ā

For anybody interested in what Darren Shand might bring to the table with this review, I found the below very insightful. Feel like nothing but good can come from having somebody of his caliber cast his eyes over our operation.
Ā

Ā

Disappointed that this isn’t a full external review as initially reported but I do think there are contract and soft cap concerns if we were to make mass changes in our administration (had a fully external review called for this)

And at the end of the day it is the FD that is responsible for our on field performance and I’m glad that this will be the primary focus of the review, as for better or worse it is clearly the area that will dictate our performance in 2025 more than any otherĀ

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking?Ā I mean by ā€œtheyā€ the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack.Ā Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winningĀ 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
