KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!

Featured Replies

the likes of whately or other commentators who keep calling him a 'small forward' clearly don't watch us play

pickett is tracking to be the next dangerfield, martin, petracca - a midfielder who can go forward and impact scoreboard

sure, it's taken him until the year in which he turns 24 when the likes of danger or neck tatts or trac were playing as pure mids, but make no mistake - koz is tracking to be as impactful as those guys, or the likes of jordan dawson or cameron rayner

in short, he's a match-winner and a game-changer

Barrett’s take is probably the dumbest yet. We signed up a generational talent on a multi million dollar deal for 9 years to avoid negative PR. I am not sure he realises how stupid this is.

Not because we didn't want a negative pr battle. Because we didn't want to lose a generational talent. Long contracts protect clubs. Petracca and Oliver are also talents we can't afford to lose and are performing well, after coming back from life threatening injuries and personal issues. Had it not been for their contracts we would have lost them both.

If Kozzie wants to leave in a couple of years time it will be very difficult for a deal to get done. But frankly, I don't think it's likely if we start contending again and keep supporting him through his home sickness.

Did you watch the chat Whateley had with Simmo? He specifically pointed out that he's far more than a small forward.

It could be true but I wouldn't be putting too much stock in Schwarz's mail.

Sure, Kossie might still want to "make noises about playing in WA", but Barrett seems not to realise that the longer contract gives us a stronger hand in any trade negotiations. This would result in a better deal for us if a trade does happen.

Thanks for posting that. I have been avoiding reading his crud and that confirms my decision was correct.

Yeah basically if Kozzy wants to go home and a WA team is willing to take on his money then they would obviously value him highly enough that we're going to get a very good ROI.

Also I can’t remember if it was @Dannyz or @goodwindees who said earlier in this thread that was a growing number of people within the club that were becoming tired of having to bend over backwards for Kossie.

Massive statement, regardless of who said it. “… a growing number of people…”??! I don’t believe this to be true but if it is true, I suppose we’ll all see the effects soon enough, because there’s no way this wouldn’t manifest itself in ways that can be hidden.

Yeah that and about 12.5 million other reasons 😉

Totally agree. Whilst Tracca and Gawn might be BOG at times they are not in the game changer category. Did we pay overs? perhaps a fraction but no one will remember in 9 years time. Provided Kozzie doesnt get reported.

To be fair it is Damian Barrett, you don't get much dumber than him.

IF...

you want yet another negative PR battle...

I mean you don't get the nickname "Purple" for nothing.

I didn't say that.....

Blokes of his mental capacity (ch9) sit and wait for us to mistake and then they criticise.

I haven't read much of this thread.

My thoughts on Kossie is we paid too much and for too long.

Geelong became a destination club partly due to the stars not getting the most out of their salary. Sacrifice led to success. I think there is alot of selfishness in our club, many playing for themselves.

We have an overblooted top end and Kossie now joins them.

If they were getting us wins when needed I wouldn't be so critical.

We are underachievers, the players are comfortable, and lack the ability to make each other better.

They sell this year as being of love, previous years it was brand or cohesion. Seems like they continue to fail at the rhetoric. Having an unequal approach to the players in terms of enumerations, will end in vexation from a few.

The club only succeeds when we are less selfish, difficult for the 43 to be in it together.

Will we be a destination club, with a restricted cap?

We have become a get out here type of club.

The level of bottom 6 of the best 22, is often a determinant of success.

Past evidence of Tracc and Clarry have shown that these kind of contracts haven't worked out well. Beyond the effect on the other players, those on that kind of contract become a disruption and unappreciative.

Don’t even bother reading the dribble out of his mouth and Korn for that matter too. All too look at mee for my liking.

Waste of space the both of them.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
