Cmon Freo dont choke here

Freo choking and Carlton still making finals is just sickening enough a concept to actually happen... please no.

Sorry if already mentioned but what has to happen in this match to get Carlton into the eight?

All good I just read the post above mine

Freo has to lose. Not draw or win.

If Allir is out for the season Port are toast.

(Roughly) ... A 25 point win to Freo gets the Cats up to 2nd spot on the ladder

Cats vs Port or Port vs Cats in a QF

Still a bit to play out

jesus

So a 10 point Freo win is the aim

for me at least

Love how the Saints put in so much with no incentive. Just to stick to the Blues

The Blues fans at the siren were pure poetry

Of course, you can bet the farm if we were the ones in Carlton's position right now, Fremantle would be 100 points up at half time.

Allir and Farrell both look out injured. Blues can’t get any luck with injuries even when it’s not them playing.

Seeing Dusty shed a tear today really got me.

One of the best players to ever play the game, and yet Dusty never made it about him. Always humble, respectful and happy to do his thing.
An absolute champion.

The game lost a real icon today.

And , in a game against Richmond last year , he kicked a goal at the start of the 3rd quarter, and McVee was on him.As they were waiting for the game to restart Dusty was talking to Knuckles and pointing out how he should have defended ie stopping Dusty getting the ball.It was advice to a young player. That’s my interpretation.
On ya Dusty

A draw would suffice.  They'd go ahead of Carlton on percentage.

edit:  Sorry @mauriesy, you were explaining how Carlton could make the eight.

let's go for the draw then. even more pain for the baggers

Paging @WalkingCivilWar, with this bottle sconning the goal umpire in the back of the head (a disgusting act), thrown from the Carlton Cheers squad, is there any sanction available against the cheers squad - like being moved to tier 3 or something?  I normally argue fiercely against collective punishment but feel like being a hypocrite in this particular case.

Freo are shi**ing the bed here. Typical dockers

Never ever ever trust Freo to do anything you need them to do.

The quality of F50 entries can make or break good teams. Freo's F50 entries look appalling in this 3rd quarter. Reminds me of the Dees in 2019/2020.

very dubious tats on jacksons arms.

I believe they're called "stickers" in the culture, a name that makes them even more dubious.

Jackson's lifting for Freo here though now.

Any danger of Luke Jackson exerting his influence?

Lions will cream both these teams next week.

We're watching a dees style attack.

That free kick was a joke. Nothing in it.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
