Unless it's Curnow, i'd also want Picks.

McKay and their next 2 first rounders

Not sure you’ll get 2 first rounders plus McKay. Perhaps McKay plus this year’s first plus future second.

Curnow will never be traded and not will TDK, although I would probably prefer TDK over McKay, as he’s younger and a better ruckman.

I'd be less inclined to cancel my membership if the trade involved Curnow or TDK.

I reckon Carlton members would riot though.

There’s no way they trade either of them. No way at all.

Regardless, this is the key issue at play in relation to the silence - Trac wants to know if there’s a club he can nominate who will offer up something the club will be genuinely interested in. How are Carlton, whose season may have another 2 weeks minimum left, going to be able to indicate a trade of one of these sorts of players without asking them, which they can’t and won’t do until their season ends?

Someone give me the odds of Petracca and McKay swapping teams. McKay also comes with a first round pick and done steak knives.

I don't expect Richo to be there next year, and Goody wouldn't be the first coach to say someone will be an x player next year, and for it to go the other way.

Just a hunch on Richo? Or is that based on solid info?

Hunch.

With Trac's injuries I don't think we're going to know the extent of damage in the short/long term until next year and thats both physically and mentally.

This is why I don't think other clubs are going to take the risk during this years trade period. Giving up a top 10 forward and first round picks is a lot for a guy that might not be the player he was. Its a long road back.

McKay and a first rounder for Trac is a win win

McKay exacerbates our accuracy problems though.

Would rather keep Trac and get Peter Wright on the cheap.

Yeah, I think Trac is over rated, disposal not great! My doggies mate was calling him a dud last year and said trade him

That’s not what I said. He’s one of the best players I’ve seen at Melbourne in my lifetime, and certainly one of the biggest game changers.

But if we wants to leave, and we think he might not ever recover to his absolute best, then we should absolutely let him and sell high

You're all nuts if you think Carlton would trade Curnow for Petracca. As great as Trac is, key forwards of Curnow's calibre are almost impossible to find. How many teams have a forward like him? Less than a handful? Most teams have a gun midfield, many teams several gun midfielders.

Well Carlton fans are talking likes its a live trade.

He is not going anywhere. Do any of you think he is just making the media look like fools when he commits?

Not atm.

Too devastated and/or willing port to win.

If this ever eventuates.

Take McKay and their first round picks this year.

McKay plus pick 5 and pick 9?, not too shabby.

Petracca has been pretty candid about his struggles with anxiety. It's reasonable that this is off the charts at the moment given what happened, and I wouldn't be surprised if he baled out of the pre-game interview with an anxiety attack. I suspect the club and hopefully his management are shielding him from a) media contact at the moment and b) making huge decisions about his future until he's in a better frame of mind.

It looks good on paper but how are you going to feel watching us kick it over Mckay's head while Petracca and Cripps destroy teams rotating mid/forward. We're gifting them a flag and it's a massive no from me.

I think it’s entirely naive to think that Trac doesn’t want out. If he didn’t, his management could shut the rumours down in 2 minutes.
Doesn’t mean the club is going to let him go without first trying to fix what needs to be fixed.

It really is this simple. I’m expecting a trade request during trade week. That or retirement. I’d genuinely be surprised if he was in the red blue next year.

Well Trac was a serial offender with average i50 disposal.

Very hard to know what the hell is going on with this one. One of the oddest situations in recent memory and one that seems to be damaging both the club and the player as it continues. So many reports contradict themselves (e.g. giving the club a kick up the butt to improve while simultaneously fostering a situation that makes it very hard for the club to sell itself to people who might be able to help it do that).

No idea what's gone on behind close doors. If there has been pressure applied to the club that we must get better then I'm all for that. Our 3 years since the flag have delivered so much less than they could have. But if it's more of a 'you must get better' to the club then I would feel it lacks self awareness and somewhat shirks the responsibility of the club's highest paid player to both deliver when under immense pressure and to drive the standards that ultimately turn the club into what we all want it to be.

If it's simply a 'you must get better' then I'd love the club's response to be that we get the best value for him and move on. I would also not expect the club to make this public at all as it would simply hurt the negotiating position which is currently very strong.

But was number one for score involvements in the league.

Carlton are currently pick 11, but that could move lower depending on results plus Academy etc.

But with Petty re-signing, and Turner, JVR and Jefferson a year older, Trac has a LOT more value to us than another KPF, even a good one.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
