Yep I definitely think he’s considering it. Goody didn’t sound too convincing in his press conference. It will depend how much he wants it, probably the only clubs that will have salary space and picks to get it done would be Tigers, Eagles, North and Saints I’d say. Blues would have to trade one of McKay or Curnow you would think.

Three of you last night tried to shut me down yet I thought I was the only one putting fwd a constructive suggestion (read my response to Luci), that is if he is really struggling. 

Mental health is real and affects different people differently but just because that it’s cited as a possible reason for someone’s behaviour doesn’t mean it’s true and doesn’t mean it can’t be questioned. Nothing I wrote was out of line. 
 

And as for posters thinking others are self entitled for wanting to know his plans, that’s just normal every day work expectations, giving your employer notice if you intend to leave. Most 9-5 jobs are 2 weeks, management type roles can be up to 1 month. Highly paid sportstars on million dollar contracts many moving parts can take weeks if not months. 

Ah mate, I think if you nearly died at work you'd probs be allowed to take some time off to consider your future.

If you want to continue the black and white analogy of employer-employee standards:

1. His employer is Melbourne, not you or Demonland

2. Goodwin says the club will interview him and all players in the coming days

3. It is industry standards to NOT disclose a trade request before the season has finished, and often deep into the trade period

 

So you may not be entitled to demand a statement, but you are just yelling into a void

Ultimately though, he's making a decision to remain quiet, there is no obvious barrier to him or his management putting this to rest. 

It doesn't have to be one or the other though.

Christian could be seriously considering a trade request, he and his management may be purposefully silent due to that, AND he could also be struggling with mental health.

I don't believe it's all as simple as we want it to be.

For all of the hate Goody gets on this site, I think he is an amazing people manager and that his relationship with Trac and the rest of the playing group could absolutely fix it. But it won’t be easy. 

And if Trac’s manager comes to us with a deal that is a clear win for our club, then I also think we will take it. But the chances of that are slim. 
What I know for sure is that our club won’t bend over and trade Trac unless the deal is a massive one. Hence the strong line that Trac is contracted and will be here for the next 5 years.

Exactly, that's the only way to read how this has played out.

No one is demanding Petracca release a public statement, all we are saying is that in the absence of one it is clear what is going on behind the scenes.

Supporters trying to claim all is right, media are just making up stuff/picking on Melbourne, Petracca is suffering, doesn't owe supporters anything etc is just coping mechanism.

I'm interested to see how this plays out over the next month or so because as I said earlier it feels like it's going to get ugly with MFC playing hard ball and holding him to his contract when he clearly wants out. Even if he stays this trade period it will be a constant story for the next 12 months.

Yep for all the hate Goody gets I think he is responsible for mending the situations with both Petty and Oliver. And as much as I dislike Tom Morris, the first time he reported on Tracc's unhappiness he was at pains to add that it had nothing to do with the coach.

Your right, no one knows what the future holds. Though, I think our GM of Football and Head coach publicly stating he isn't leaving, and thus essentially putting their jobs on the line if he does leave gives me plenty of reassurance.

I don't expect Richo to be there next year, and Goody wouldn't be the first coach to say someone will be an x player next year, and for it to go the other way.

I wouldn’t rule out the Pies if that’s If where he wants to go. Which would make me sick.  
Trade De Goey to one of the above clubs or Essendon and use future first and other picks to trade in Brisbanes first. May also have to trade a fringe player. Not saying it will happen but if he requested a trade to them it’s possible.

From certain posts here saying  he wants out but also is struggling dealing both physically & mentally with he’s injuries and no argument there and understandable! My question is by moving clubs hypothetically how does this assist with he’s recovery???

I reckon after suffering such a traumatic injury and then having to spend a significant amount of time away from the club it would be pretty natural to question your desire to play again and have some anxiety about coming back to the club with all of the media attention and, at the present moment, not being 100% invested.

It wouldn't suprise me if Tracc has lost his love of the game and desire to play and needs some time to come to terms with the trauma and his rehab. The club look like they have a good handle on the situation and making sure he has the time and support he needs.
